Holiday magic in Paris

The City of Lights exudes charm year round, but during the festive season it becomes even more enchanting. Make the most of this special time with help from the experts at Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris, where the concierge team can tailor an itinerary of unforgettable experiences. Glide across the ice at a skating rink overlooking landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Hotel de Ville, or stroll through picturesque Christmas markets. You’ll be dazzled by Parisian traditions like the fantastical scenes filling les vitrines de Noel – elaborately decorated windows at the city’s iconic department stores. Our favourite? The can’t-miss display at Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche. As for the Hotel itself, thanks to Artistic Director Jeff Leatham’s breathtaking holiday decorations, you’ll feel as though it’s been transformed into your own personal vitrine de Noel. Lose yourself in the vibrant hues and intricately crafted compositions adorning the Hotel’s common areas and celebrated Marble Courtyard. Traditions with a twist in Boston

Many families celebrate the holidays with their own time-honoured traditions – a comforting meal, treasured decorations, special activities. Start a new family tradition at Four Seasons Hotel Boston, where the new Very Important Kid Package will delight young guests (and their parents) with an in-room enchanted tent setup, a personalized amenity and a Hotel scavenger hunt. In addition to the magical accommodations, you’ll find festive surprises throughout the Hotel, such as themed vaults and mystery closets for kids to explore, along with seasonal coffee specials at Sottovento that adults will love. Our favourite this year is the Boston Fog, a creamy tea latte made with a blend similar to the tea tossed into the Boston Harbor in 1773, served in honour of the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. Have the Coffee Concierge deliver it to your room in the morning before you head out to explore the city’s historic sites or do some holiday shopping.

Bringing Home the World

Experienced travellers know that the best trips don’t end when you arrive home; instead, the journey continues as you reflect on your experiences. That’s one reason we bring home souvenirs – tangible reminders of new destinations, cultures and connections.

Here, Four Seasons experts share some of their favourite ways to explore, plus the souvenirs you can’t go home without.

Vibrant Fabrics in Kyoto

“Furoshiki, a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth, is one of the most useful souvenirs you could take home,” says Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto Manager Katsuyuki Takahashi. “Furoshiki are eco-friendly, and their designs and uses are endless. Use one to wrap a wine bottle or gift you’re bringing home from one of the many shops in Kyoto, or partake in the Japanese tradition of tsutsumu – the wrapping of goods to respect and protect them. Head to Karakusaya, a furoshiki specialty shop just a short train ride from the Hotel, where they occasionally hold wrapping classes.”

A New Season in Napa: Fall Fashion
Inspired by Wine Country

California’s Napa Valley is ideally suited for Cabernet Sauvignon grapes: The region offers a sunny, warm climate; good drainage; and volcanic soils that add an earthy, rich complexity to its wines. At the new Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley, where the vineyard is protected by the Palisades mountains and oak-covered hills, world-class winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown and his team at the on-site Elusa Winery have carefully designed and planted it to intensify the grapes’ flavour. Take part in the winemaking process, from harvesting grapes to blending and ageing the wine, or learn about Calistoga’s unique terroir during a tasting session – the Resort provides the most complete grape-to-glass experience in Napa.

“The moment guests step foot on the property, they are welcomed into an extraordinary wine country oasis,” says General Manager Mehdi Eftekari. “Awe-inspiring views of the vineyards and Palisades Mountains are an idyllic backdrop to enriching experiences at TRUSS Restaurant + Bar and Elusa Winery. In guests’ suites, the vines are mere inches from their terraces and balconies.”

The dramatic scenery of North America’s wine capital – and the Resort, set to open later this year – also provide an idyllic background for the season’s most stylish new fashions. The looks pair perfectly with the Resort’s natural colour palette, rich textures and easy elegance.
