Weave through snow-covered pines on one of Vail’s 195 manicured trails.

A trail for everyone in Vail, Colorado

With nearly half of its 195 manicured trails gently winding between pine forests or down unhurried bowls, Vail has scenic runs for skiers of all skill levels. While less challenging descents are available for those looking for a gentle back-country experience, advanced skiers must tackle Vail’s infamous Back Bowls, or test their mettle on Vail’s longest run, the 4-mile-long (6.5-kilometre) Riva Ridge. Just take care at its steepest section, a particularly tricky area known as the “Tourist Trap.”

Right at the base of Vail Mountain, Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail is perfectly located to experience the best of the Colorado Rockies.

PERFECT FOR FAMILIES

Families should consider signing up for one of the many offerings at Vail’s ski and snowboard school. Opt for a Family Private Experience, during which you can each improve your skills and explore Vail together with the help of an expert instructor. Afterwards, take a family sleigh ride up Beaver Creek Mountain for a memorable dinner in a cozy log cabin.

FOR A SWEET APRÈS-SKI

In Vail, your après-ski is incomplete without a taste of The Remedy Bar’s famous Haut Chocolat. Arriving at your table in a traditional French hot chocolate pot, this high-level beverage is made with Valrhona chocolate and steamed milk – churned tableside – and poured into a cup topped with a dark chocolate lattice and homemade marshmallow.

When you’re staying at Four Seasons Hotel Megève, the area’s famous mountain scenery is on full display.

Timeless Alpine heritage in Megève

In 1920, Noémie de Rothschild, wife of Baron Maurice de Rothschild, fell in love with the traditional chalets, gentle slopes and brilliant Alpine sunshine of Megève. It’s here she decided to open her own ski resort, creating a ski lift, an airfield and an 18-hole golf course to attract celebrities and discerning travellers of her day. This tradition of elegance continues at Four Seasons Hotel Megève.

By the entrance of Four Seasons Hotel Megève, the La Cry ski lift provides direct access to the area’s famous Les Mandarines piste, making this the only ski-in, ski-out hotel in Megève. Aside from the slopes, Megève is just as famous for both its mountain scenery and its village charm. Put on your snowshoes and venture out on a hike at sunset accompanied by a professional mountain guide, or view the fresh snow through the beautiful pine tree forest from aboard the first electric snowmobiles in France, available exclusively at Four Seasons.

FOR FAMILIES

Take the family for a horse-drawn carriage ride along the village’s cobblestone streets, passing through the central square and various local boutiques. Available to guests at both Four Seasons properties, the Kids Club offers an enchanting setting for children ages 3 to 11. What with building snowmen, dog-sled rides, Japanese culinary delights and cocooning wellness treatments, there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities designed to delight the youngest guests.

FOR COUPLES

Couples simply must enjoy a romantic meal at the Michelin-starred La Dame de Pic – Le 1920 at Four Seasons Hotel Megève. But for something even more exceptional, book A Night Above the Clouds, which includes a stay in an unforgettable suite set above the mountain restaurant L’Idéal 1850 and featuring unparalleled views of Mont Blanc. Once you’ve settled in, savour a delicious Savoyard dinner highlighting local cheeses, followed by stargazing on the suite’s majestic terrace to close out a magical winter’s night. The next day, relish a tailored breakfast while admiring the sunrise over Mont Blanc before being the first to hit the ski slopes.

Redefining Extraordinary

In a world increasingly filled with automated everything, what truly connects us isn’t technology – it’s a sense of belonging. To us, that’s true luxury, and it’s also what sets Four Seasons apart: making you feel welcome with authentic interactions and an abundance of heartfelt generosity. These moments shared by staff and guests are genuine and intentional, and since they’re tailored to individual tastes, they’re also the best-remembered souvenirs.

Where exceptional is the rule

Extraordinary isn’t just about what you do; it’s how you do it. And at Four Seasons, the extraordinary always begins with heart. That extends to the one-of-a-kind experiences that are designed to connect you with the most captivating people and places around the globe.

Starstruck in Cap-Ferrat

There may be no better place to stargaze than the dark, starry skies along the tip of the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula in the French Riviera, and the Grand-Hôtel du-Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel makes this already magical experience even more extraordinary. Its Conversation With the Stars, customizable for either a couple or a family, brings the sparkling night sky closer with a night of stargazing and Michelin-star dining served under – you guessed it – the stars. You’ll join famed planetary scientist and astrophysicist Dr Patrick Michel, best known for his study of asteroids, for a talk about the stars and planets. Afterwards, you’ll be served an out-of-this-world dinner prepared by Executive Chef Yoric Tièche of Michelin-starred Le Cap. Seasonally and locally sourced and inspired, the menu may include dishes such as Mediterranean red mullet fillet with marinated squid and tomatoes with flavours of aioli; and chocolate soufflé, served cannoli-style, with vanilla olive oil.

Getting into the ring in Koh Samui

For challenging cultural immersion, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui invites you to step into the on-site Thai boxing ring with one of the country’s top pros to learn some of the key moves of a centuries-old martial arts form. Muay Thai kick-boxing is known as the “Art of Eight Limbs” for its physically demanding, full-body approach – which is why the second part of the Resort’s Muay Thai Adventure takes place at the Spa. The Muay Thai Recovery treatment soothes sore muscles with an herbal steam and cool-water leg message, followed by a full-body massage with black pepper, clove and essential oils. When you’re well rested, you’ll head to nearby Chaweng Boxing Stadium, where you’ll join your instructor to watch a professional Muay Thai match from the VIP section.

Spontaneous and surprising

Sometimes the most extraordinary experiences aren’t originally part of the plan; rather, they’re arranged specifically for a guest when a staff member has paid close attention to their comments and interests. It’s all part of the Four Seasons heartfelt approach to making everyone feel at home.

A butterfly surprise

When a guest relations officer at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay learned of three young guests’ fascination with butterflies, she knew exactly what to do – hold a butterfly hunt. She hand-folded more than 50 butterflies out of various colours of origami paper and scattered them around Sundara, the Resort’s seafood barbecue restaurant. The sisters – ages 3, 4 and 6 – were given baskets, butterfly-catching wings, wands and headbands, and then sent off on their hunt. Afterwards, everyone was all smiles. By paying attention to what the girls were interested in and bringing it to life in a creative way, the guest relations officer made a real connection with the whole family – and gave them a gift to remember for years to come.

A Concierge connection

Luis Medeiros, Concierge at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo, is known for his warm and welcoming personality as well as being a keen listener. So when a VIP guest mentioned in passing that she’d once lived in Costa Rica on a coffee farm as an exchange student in the 1980s, he decided to find her host family as a surprise. Luckily, the Monteverde region is quite small, and it didn’t take much digging for Medeiros to connect the dots – and the people.

He shared the news with the guest, and then arranged the three-hour drive for the emotional reunion. She was thrilled that he had taken the initiative.

“Actively listening to our guests is the most important interaction we can have,” says Medeiros. “I like to read between the lines to truly understand the meaning of the messages that they are trying to convey.”

Beyond Expectations: Curated Journeys by Land, Sea and Sky

How do you want to see the world? Perhaps by flying high above the clouds on a private jet from one bucket-list destination to the next. Maybe the idea of driving through some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes fuels your sense of wonder. Or it could be the sea that calls your name, with a voyage of discovery both on the water and on shore.

No matter what your dream trip may look like, Four Seasons offers one-of-a-kind experiences by private jet, luxury car or yacht. These extraordinary journeys speak to the heart of what it means to be a traveller: a deep-seated curiosity that drives you to discover and experience the cultures, flavours and beauty of the world up close.

By Air: Fly high on the Four Seasons Private Jet

Encounter mountain gorillas in the bamboo forests of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. Stand at sunrise with 15 moai statues and gain insight into Easter Island’s Rapa Nui people. Emerge from a narrow canyon to marvel at Petra’s sandstone Treasury, a temple carved into rock millennia ago.

Such unforgettable moments happen on curated itineraries exclusive to the Four Seasons Private Jet Experience. With ultra–high touch and anticipatory service, an on board private chef and the ability to customize your itinerary at each destination along the way with the help of a dedicated on board Concierge, travelling on the Private Jet allows you to be fully present and worry free – everything here is taken care of for you. Journeys range from 13 to 24 days, focusing on regions such as Africa or Asia or touching down around the world at a mix of remote and famed destinations. All this with a custom-outfitted Airbus A321neo-LR as your luxury hotel in the sky.

On the family-friendly African Wonders 2024 journey, you’ll fly from Cairo to the Serengeti to the rainforests of Rwanda and to Victoria Falls – among other stops – on a seven-destination, 13-day adventure. See the vast grasslands from a hot-air balloon, followed by breakfast in the bush, and then return to Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti to relax in an infinity pool overlooking an elephant watering hole.

The settings are exceptional by design, but certain moments add extra magic. For Shari Moss, a previous Private Jet traveller, it was encountering elusive mountain gorillas in Rwanda that left a lasting impression. “A mother is lying in a hollow beside me with her two little ones. … She unfurls her hand and touches my boot. Our eyes lock. This, to me, is the most important minute of the entire journey,” she writes.

Combining dynamic cities, wonders of the world and idyllic islands, the Asia Unveiled 2025 itinerary starts in Tokyo, where travellers can attend samurai school, followed by a stay at an overwater villa in the Maldives. Up next, a stop in Hoi An where guests can savour a culinary tour of the city aboard a vintage Vespa. In Bhutan, you’ll have the rare opportunity to climb 2,600 feet up a cliffside in Paro Valley to reach the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of the country’s most sacred and awe-inspiring sites. On the way to Bangkok, the Jet will touch down for a special day trip to the majestic Angkor Wat temples for a private ceremony led by Buddhist monks. The scent of incense and sounds of spiritual chants are bound to leave a lasting impression – the perfect closing to an incredible journey.

Looking for a truly global adventure? Embark on the 24-day Ancient Explorer 2024 odyssey, taking you to destinations such as Teotihuacan, Easter Island, the Great Barrier Reef, Petra and the Pyramids of Giza and Italy’s Mount Etna, among others. With Four Seasons, as one previous Ancient Explorer guest noted, “Every experience was so well-planned to the finest detail. I never could have done such a thing on my own.”

In addition to African Wonders, Asia Unveiled and Ancient Explorer, Four Seasons offers a variety of expertly curated itineraries that showcase the world in an extraordinary new light. If you’ve ever thought about booking a trip on the Four Seasons Private Jet, keep in mind that seats on these ever-popular journeys tend to go fast, with limited availability left for 2023, 2024 and 2025 itineraries.

By Land: Hit the road with the Four Seasons Drive Experience

For some, the ideal way to see a destination is on the road, behind the wheel of a vintage vehicle or modern supercar. Launched in 2022 with an inaugural trip through the scenic Tuscan countryside, the Four Seasons Drive Experience puts you in the driver’s seat for a trip filled with exclusive culinary and cultural experiences in some of the world’s most beautiful destinations.

Past guests have also driven through the Alps on a Four Seasons itinerary from Geneva to Megève, with experiences including private reserve wine tastings; gourmet lunches at beautiful chateaus; a studio tour and private class with a renowned Swiss watchmaker; and convivial dinners complete with live entertainment where friendships are forged and unforgettable memories made – all while taking in gorgeous Alpine lakes along the way. One highlight of that trip was a stop in Gruyère, the village that lends its name to the traditional and much-admired Swiss cheese. Another showstopper: a visit to Mont Blanc Massif, the breathtaking mountain range with 360-degree views of the French, Swiss and Italian Alps.

As for the driving, Four Seasons can arrange for a vehicle of your choice, or you can opt to bring your own car. The Drive Experience is completely customizable to your interests.

In the fall of 2023, the Drive Experience heads to Napa Valley, where you can take to the rolling hills of California’s premier wine country, meet the area’s culinary stars and sample rare wines at exclusive wineries such as Opus One, Promontory and ADAMVS. A ferry through San Francisco Bay and a hot-air balloon ride add further context as you explore the region. This wine-lover’s dream trip is slated for October 29 through November 4.

By Sea: Embark on the open seas with Four Seasons Yachts

In 2025, Four Seasons will take to the seas with sailings through the Mediterranean and Caribbean aboard a custom-built luxury yacht.

Fincantieri, one of the world’s leading shipbuilding groups, together with renowned design and interior visionaries, are crafting a vessel with 95 spacious suites, featuring a distinct residential feel, floor-to-ceiling windows and private terrace decks. The most expansive of all – the Funnel Suite – will measure nearly 10,000 square feet of combined indoor-outdoor living space across four levels. Elsewhere on board, you’ll come upon a full-service spa, a pool for soaking up the sun, an outdoor theatre, and inventive culinary concepts at several restaurants and bar venues throughout the yacht.

With sustainability top of mind, Four Seasons Yachts will use green or zero-energy fuels (solar or shoreside electrical power when possible), extensive waste recycling, and lower air emissions, ensuring an eco-minded approach is prioritized.

While life aboard the Yacht will be an experience unto itself, inspiring on-shore excursions are also being designed, filled with unique opportunities to immerse yourself in local culture from port to port.

San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel is an idyllic setting for a romantic getaway.

For just the two of you: Taormina and Napa Valley

Whether you’re a couple in love, newlyweds on a honeymoon or parents looking for a kid-free break, connecting with your significant other is best done in a beautiful setting. Dating back to the 14th century, San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel, is perched atop a promontory overlooking the Ionian Sea, Mount Etna and an ancient Greek theatre. In the Hotel, a former Dominican convent, several of the sea-view rooms and suites have terraces and private plunge pools.

“Sicily is the perfect destination to share love, passion and ‘la dolce vita,’” says the Hotel’s Concierge. “Take a drive in a tiny original Fiat 500 – perfect for two – to visit the area around Taormina. Drive up winding roads into small villages to see the sights and admire views of the Ionian Sea. Or enjoy a leisurely boat ride in the bay on a traditional fisherman boat, toasting with a Sicilian sparkling wine before hopping off to visit charming Isola Bella.” But return in time for dinner at the Hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Principe Cerami, helmed by Chef Massimo Mantarro, and dig into Sicilian fare such as quail with asparagus and black truffle, or busiate pasta with almonds, eggplant and garlic. If you and your love are then ready to retire, we wouldn’t blame you, but the property can arrange stargazing safaris with an expert astronomer weaving tales of mythology while pointing out the constellations.

For me, myself and I: Lisbon, Santa Fe and Montreal

In the recent decade, the rise in solo travel is proof that sometimes the best companion may be yourself. Travelling alone heightens your senses to the sights and sounds around you; you can observe and appreciate a destination in a deeper way. Stay at Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon while wandering the seven hills of Portugal’s capital. The coastal city, with its tile-covered and pastel-hued buildings, is a photographer’s dream. Pop on a helmet and ride in the sidecar of a vintage motorcycle as a professional photographer offers tips and tricks for capturing the beauty and charm of Lisbon’s quaint Alfama, Bairro Alto and Chiado neighbourhoods. “Lisbon welcomes solo travellers with both arms wide open,” says Head Concierge Luis Miguel. “Our vibrant city is colourful, inviting and culturally diverse. With a fascinating history and lively art and cultural scene, there’s always something to see, taste or do, even if that means letting yourself get lost going up and down the winding streets of Alfama.” Find your way back and hit the Hotel’s Spa, or linger over the seasonal jacaranda afternoon tea in the tapestry-lined Almada Negreiros Lounge.

A city with Southwestern flavour and a laid-back vibe, Santa Fe is an easy weekend away on your own. Spend your summer in a villa on the Côte d’Azur and get a taste of the “diffused magic of the hot sweet South” that F. Scott Fitzgerald famously wrote about. The Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel, already has one iconic villa on its premises, the pink-walled Villa Rose Pierre. Now the Hotel has added two villas to their Villa & Residence Rentals collection, perfect for summer stays. In the five-bedroom Villa Beauchamp, unwind after a day on the water in the villa’s sauna, hammam or state-of-the-art entertainment centre featuring an in-home cinema. If you’re travelling with teenagers or a group of friends, the Pavilion – a separate, fully equipped two-bedroom guesthouse adjacent to the Villa – offers even more room and privacy. Or opt for a stay in the more intimate two-bedroom Villa Clair Soleil, with its mid-20th-century charm and a spacious terrace that includes a private pool for those glorious days spent lounging in the Riviera sun.

Relax together

Carefully designed to maximize kutsurogi – the Japanese art of relaxation – Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto is a tranquil hideaway in the heart of historic Kyoto. Prepare a family meal in your Residential Suite’s fully equipped kitchen or get cosy in your luxuriously appointed living room; there’s room for everyone in Kyoto’s largest in-suite entertaining spaces. The youngest guests are in for a treat: Your dedicated Four Seasons team can set up a tent in your child’s bedroom for an evening of indoor camping they’ll remember forever. Adults will enjoy a variety of exclusive amenities, like a private geisha performance in the Hotel’s sukiya-style Tea House, set in the historic Japanese Garden. No matter how you choose to spend your time, you’ll enjoy the space and flexibility of a private home while you explore the beguiling city of Kyoto.
