At the Resort
Our Nevis tennis facilities include 10 courts and ample services and amenities, including night play and professional instruction. Managed by world-renowned Peter Burwash International, the site comprises four red clay courts (two lit for night play) and six hard courts (three lit for night play). Equipment, apparel and accessories are available from the pro shop, located in the sports pavilion.
Hiking – Herbs Tours
Michael will take you through Upper Rawlins on a show-and-tell tour of the bush medicine that his mother, grandmother and great-grandmother relied on to rid themselves of aches, sores, colds, rheumatism, high and low blood pressure, diabetes and infections. (Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.)
Hiking – Sunset Tours
Join Lemuel and Paulette Pemberton on a casual afternoon stroll to see the monkeys of Nevis in their natural forest habitat. See them scamper across the paths and trails in search of food or cavorting on the ground in scenes of real abandon. Learn about the history of Nevis and the traditional and medicinal uses of the plants that proliferate along the trails while you enjoy stunning views of the coastal plain and across the sea to the islands of Redonda, Montserrat and Antigua. (Approximately 90 minutes.)
Hiking – Sunrise Tours
Experience a moderately challenging hike through lush forests to an ideal spot for panoramic island views. You will hike by two tropical ravines and into a cave. You will also be introduced to the flora and fauna of the island, including bamboo and fruit trees such as banana, citrus, mango and guava. (Approximately 2 hours.)
Hiking – Rainforest & Ruins
Hike with Lynnell into the rainforest and coconut plantations on the slopes of Nevis Peak. Along the way, experience the beauty and tranquillity of a cool, luxuriant tropical ravine with massive volcanic boulders worn smooth by a millennium’s rainfall, as well as majestic trees and lush tropical plants such as heliconia, elephant-ear ferns and bamboo. Explore long-lost and evocative remains of when Nevis truly was “Queen of the Caribees.” This moderate-level hike is an excellent way to explore what makes Nevis unique. (Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.)
Hiking – Golden Rock Nature Trails
Take a moderate hike along scenic Golden Rock Nature Trail, which highlights the flora of Nevis with a special focus on its medical and local uses. Enjoy old ruins as you walk along the grounds of this 18th-century sugar plantation, which have been converted into a hotel that is still in operation today. (Approximately 2 hours.)
Hiking – Saddle Hill
Hike leisurely with Lynnell to an elevation of 380 metres (1,250 feet) on Saddle Hill. Learn about traditional ways of life and the medicinal plants along the trail while also taking in views of our own cloud-covered Nevis Peak, St. Kitts, Redonda, Antigua and the active volcano on Montserrat. If you’re lucky, you may see our monkeys. Stand on the rock where Nelson stood to signal the ships in English Harbour in Antigua. Walk along the ruined walls of the Saddle Hill Battery where Lord Nelson was stationed. You can also see the Port of St. George, where the British shipped out sugar, molasses, rum and cotton, which supported Nevis’ economy for many years. (Approximately 2 hours.)
Hiking – Butler’s Source
Join Lynnell on a moderately challenging hike to the Butler’s Source. Along the route see the Prison Farm, better known as Russell’s Rest, and learn about its true origin. Walk along lush tropical rainforest, enchanting ravines and haunted areas. View the flora and fauna, monkeys, cocoa trees and a variety of fruits. Come and enjoy breathtaking vistas of the Atlantic Ocean. (Approximately 3 hours.)
City Tour – Historic Charlestown
Walk leisurely with Lynnell through scenic Charlestown, originally founded in the early 1600s with a simple red brick schoolhouse. This city is the centre of Nevis’ commercial activity and offers a plethora of educational and significant historical sites, as well as a bustling public market and grand architectural buildings. Warm and friendly people make it a uniquely inviting place to experience. (Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.)
Bicycle Tour – Island Discovery
Join our tour guide Reggie Douglas (two-time Nevis Sportsman of the year, four-time OECS Triathlon Champion and four-time National Cycling Champion) for the unique experience of cycling back through time across old cane trails and village paths that criss-cross this beautiful island. Our top-of-the-line multi-geared bikes make the ride almost effortless, and get you up close and personal with the nature and leisurely pace of Nevis. Newcastle, Camps and Fountain are just some of the villages you will encounter on your journey, and as we take one of many rest breaks on the tour, we'll walk you through some of the history of Nisbet Plantation, Garner’s Estate and the golden era when sugar was king.
This tour is suitable for all fitness levels and ages, and can be tailored to suit you. Guests interested in a more intense bicycling experience are invited to request an advanced tour, which we will happily accommodate. This tour includes a guide, your bike, helmet, refreshments and a water bottle. (Approximately 2 hours.)
Bicycle Tour – History and Heritage
This tour departs from the Resort and heads into Charlestown via the “Big Rock,” with stops at the Lord Nelson Museum, the Caribbean’s first commercial hotel, The Bath, and the famous hot springs before arriving in Charlestown, where many examples of classic Caribbean architecture can be found. Enjoy the view of the bay and take in some local refreshments before visiting the Alexander Hamilton Museum and birthplace, and then returning to the Resort. This tour includes a guide, a bike, a helmet, refreshments and a water bottle. (Approximately 2 hours.)
Bicycle Tour – Sunrise Ride
Join Reggie for a pre-breakfast workout. Build up an appetite and start your day off right as he takes you for a quick jaunt through downtown Charlestown, on to Bath Village and the Old Bath Hotel and hot springs, then past the Nelson museum and out towards Long Point roundabout. Taking the bypass road behind Charlestown, you’ll enjoy a lovely view of the harbour before descending to the main island road and back to the Resort. This tour includes a guide, a bike, a helmet and a water bottle, and is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. (Approximately 1 hour.)
Hike & Bike Tours
Enjoy spectacular views of the southeast peninsula of St. Kitts and explore the ruins and remains of Nevis’ history during a gentle hike on the slopes of Nevis Peak. After a short break and some light refreshments, we will outfit you with a bike and safety helmet for our casually paced descent. Enjoy the very best Nevis has to offer at a pace that affords you plenty of opportunities to take photos, ask questions, and experience the natural, undisturbed beauty of this Caribbean gem. Please note that guests choosing to only take part in the hike have the option to be driven home by one of our guides. This tour includes a guide, a bike, a helmet, refreshments and a water bottle. (Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.)
Explore Nevis at your own pace with a convenient bicycle rental. Choose from mountain bikes, road bikes, hybrids, BMX or kids’ bikes, and add a child’s seat or a Trail-a-Bike to cruise with even the littlest members of your family. All rentals come with a helmet, pump, spare tube, puncture repair kit, water bottle and lock, and weekly rentals include one additional day of use free of charge.
Horseback Riding – Hermitage Stables
Hermitage Stables has horses available for English-style rides seven days a week. Please note that riding is not available on rainy days, or on days when the stable is involved with horse racing, and advance booking for trail rides is encouraged.
