On Good Friday, in celebration of the Easter holiday, a kite flying competition takes place at the “Flats,” a local community recreation center. The competition brings locals and visitors together to test their kite in four categories: Best Papered Kite, Most Creative Kite, Biggest Kite and Best Flying Kite. Guests at the Resort can take part in this yearly tradition by making their very own kite to enter the competition. (April)
Imagine listening to some of the top-rated international Blues, Soul and Funk artists right on the beach as the sun is setting over the Caribbean. The festival combines music with the flavours of the Island with Nevisian-style BBQ along with soft drinks, beers, wine and spirits to keep the party going into the late hours of the night. (April)
The Nevis Mango and Food Festival is held each year during the first week of July, at the peak of mango season. This tropical fruit is celebrated throughout the Caribbean for its sweet and savoury flavour, adding vibrant colors and unique textures that blend well with any dish. Nevis celebrates its love for this delicious fruit with a spectacular roster of events that will take visitors around the Island and feature dinners and cooking demonstrations by invited celebrity chefs. (July)
Sea Turtle Conservation Weekend
During the summer, the Resort partners with the Sea Turtle Conservancy and the Nevis Turtle Group to provide an eco-tourism program for youths that focuses on Nevis' endangered sea turtles. The Resort hosts an annual Sea Turtle Conservation Weekend in July, which includes night turtle-tracking walks, catch-tag-and-release events, and sea turtle-themed programming about these majestic animals. (July)
The biggest party on the Island happens between July and August, when Nevis celebrates Culturama. The Island comes alive with art, music and celebration for Nevisian culture and history. This is truly one of the best ways to experience Nevis and connect with the local community. The week-long festival celebrates the emancipation of slaves on the Island, ending with a colourful dance parade through the streets where locals and visitors come together for a day of music and fun. (July – August)
The Nevis Triathlon is perhaps the most beautiful and technical course in the Caribbean. The triathlon is as scenic as it is challenging and unique, featuring a swim in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean and a cycle around the entire Island before completing the challenge with a run on the road and beach.
