A dramatic staircase – with softly backlit washi-paper walls by award-winning Kyoto artist Eriko Horiki – is the gateway to celebration in our beautiful Chapel. This contemporary space on the fourth floor blends solemnity and elegance. Inspired by gently swaying bamboo, its undulating, 5.4-metre (17.7-foot) ceiling features vertical bands of wood with stylized bamboo foliage shaped in relief.
A full-height altar window frames sky and treetops. Just beyond, a balcony is perfect for wedding photographs, as is our picturesque, 800-year-old Japanese garden.
The Ballroom can accommodate a banquet for 220 or a reception of 360, and divides into two for more intimate occasions. Three salons behind hand-carved doors are excellent choices for smaller events, such as an engagement party.
