I pledge to be pono (righteous) on the island of Lāna‘i.

I will explore with aloha (love and compassion), honouring the ‘āina (land) from mauka (upland) to makai (ocean).

I will not harm the beauty of Hulopo‘e Bay, a kaiāulu (community) teeming with life, and I will mālama (care for) its fragile ecosystems.

I will tread lightly near Keahiakawelo and Puʻupehe, protecting their ancient mana (spiritual energy) and unique formations.

I will admire holoholona (wildlife) from a distance, never disturbing the creatures who call Lāna‘i home.

I will not leave a trace, ensuring that Lānaʻi’s sands, pōhaku (rocks) and trails remain untouched and pristine.

I will heed the ocean’s power and wisdom, respecting the challenging nalu (surf), and honoring the moana (deep sea) that shapes its shores.

I will embrace my kuleana (responsibility and privilege) as a steward of this island, visiting with reverence and aloha.

Ke kaunoʻa o Lānaʻi, he lei haku me ke aloha. The kaunoʻa of Lānaʻi, a lei woven with love.
