Local Gems: Our Guide to Bali

Shape your itinerary with their picks and uncover some of Bali's hidden gems.

OUR ADVENTURE GUIDE’S FAVOURITE TEMPLE

– Adventure Guide, Agus Nova Putra

“I love going to Tirta Empul for the melukat bathing ritual. It’s a refreshing experience; absolutely perfect for shaking off any negativity. The water temple is well-loved by tourists and locals alike. It's about 45 minutes from our Resort and part of the Pilgrim Temple Voyage that we offer. For a more local experience in a nearby village, ask the Concierge about our Can You Keep A Secret excursion.”

WHERE OUR WELLNESS MENTOR SHOPS FOR GIFTS

– Wellness Mentor, Heni Ferawati

“I often visit nearby Ubud, where I can treat myself to energy rebalancing from one of the local healers. When I want to buy a tangible gift, I go to The Pure Land Gallery, which is also in Ubud. There, you can purchase handmade local jewellery and art, and Buddhist Tibetan instruments like singing bowls. The only thing that tops the feeling of being surrounded by so many spiritual tools is playing them! Customers are encouraged to try them out to find the ones that are perfect for them.”

OUR GUEST EXPERIENCE MANAGER’S TOP WATERFALL

– Guest Experience Manager, Atmawin Adiputra

“My favourite outdoor adventure is going to Sekumpul Waterfall. It is a hidden gem of six or seven cascades located in a remote part of Bali, a couple of hours from the Resort. It's such a thrill to see them – one is over 50 metres (165 feet) high! You get there by taking a 40-minute trek downhill, so going back up is a workout. I recommend wearing a bathing suit under your clothes so you can jump in when you’re there, and bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated on the hike back.”

WHERE OUR RESORT MANAGER GOES FOR LIBATIONS

– Resort Manager, Gianni Costa

“The Sayan House restaurant is not far from the Resort and has an excellent variety of creative cocktails. For a refreshing evening, you can sit out on the open deck to take in gorgeous hillside views of the Sayan Valley (and our strikingly shaped Resort). I suggest ordering the Café Groni, which has an energetic combination of coffee whiskey, Campari and white vermouth.”
