The official Spring Festival holiday usually runs eight days, with dates announced each year, and many smaller shops close for at least the first few days. At Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, Zhuo Yue Xuan, FOO, Yi Lounge and In-Room Dining continue their full service through the holiday.
Poon choi, a walled-village specialty of Hong Kong, layers slow-cooked meats and seafood in a large basin for celebrations such as Lunar New Year. At Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, traditional poon choi is among the artisanal New Year gifts prepared by our chefs each year, alongside hampers and rice pudding gift boxes. Poon choi is usually available from January and needs to be ordered one day in advance.
Zhuo Yue Xuan at Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen offers classic Cantonese cuisine and 10 private dining rooms for special events, each seating 10 to 14 guests. The private rooms are available on Chinese New Year’s Eve, when family members gather for the reunion dinner, and should be reserved in advance.
Futian’s Civic Center has staged a Spring Festival light show in recent years: viewing from Civic Center Square has required advance reservation, while the peak of Lianhua Hill Park has offered a reservation-free view. Lo hei is the communal tossing of yusheng, a dish of fish slices, vegetables, spices and condiments. Everyone at the table tosses it together while sharing wishes for the new year, and the higher the toss, the greater the fortune it’s believed to bring. At Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, a traditional lo hei is offered at Zhuo Yue Xuan each Chinese New Year.
