Around New Year, Hoi An enjoys mild tropical weather, with daytime highs typically around 24–25°C (75–77°F) and cooler evenings around 19–21°C (67–69°F). The rainy season is drawing to a close, though occasional showers are still possible.
New Year’s Eve in Hoi An is celebrated with a lively programme of music, entertainment and countdown events, although a public fireworks display is not guaranteed each year. Festive programmes vary annually, so check the latest schedule when planning your stay.
Hoi An is now part of the wider Da Nang municipality. Hoi An Ancient Town is approximately 30 kilometres (19 miles) from central Da Nang, with the journey typically taking around 45 minutes by car.
Hoi An takes on a lively atmosphere on New Year’s Eve, with lantern-lit streets, live entertainment and countdown celebrations around the Ancient Town and An Hoi. Along the Hoai River, visitors can enjoy evening boat rides, local food and the city’s distinctive heritage setting.
