An Insider’s Playbook to Macau
A Les Clefs d’Or–honoured Four Seasons concierge shares her picks for a visit to the multifaceted region.
“Being a concierge is my true calling,” says Gigi Chan. As the chief concierge at Four Seasons Hotel Macao since 2022, Chan has made a career out of translating her deep love for her home city into unforgettable guest experiences. And Macau—with its centuries-old blend of Chinese heritage and Portuguese influence—serves as a distinctive setting for discovery. “Every guest arrives with a unique story,” she says, “and I take pride in curating experiences that turn their stay into lasting memories.” Here, Chan, who was awarded the prestigious Golden Keys by Les Clefs d’Or Macau in 2022, tells us about her cherished local spots.

St. Lazarus
“The district offers a peaceful retreat through beautifully preserved streets—think cobblestone alleys and pastel-coloured facades in classic Portuguese style.”
Sei Kee Cafe
“The combination of its clay-pot-brewed coffee, crispy pork chop bun, and toast cubes is comfort food to many locals.”
The Ruins of St. Paul’s

“The facade is the perfect representation of Macau. It reflects the European influence, Catholic image, and Chinese culture in one architecture.”
Restaurante Litoral
“This family restaurant’s recipes represent the most authentic Macanese cuisine, which is the unique mix of Portuguese, southern Chinese, and Southeast Asian flavours. My recommended order is African chicken, ox-tripe stew, and garlic clams.”
Zi Yat Heen at Four Seasons Hotel Macao

“As a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, Macau inspires Zi Yat Heen to introduce new menus and seasonal specialties continuously. The homemade sauces are a hidden gem, and they elevate every dish. Now for the first time, VIP guests can uncover this culinary secret through an intimate cooking workshop led by our chefs, where they will learn to craft the restaurant’s iconic XO sauce from scratch.”
Splash at Four Seasons Hotel Macao
“The food is chic and satisfying, and I just love the white-truffle pizza right out of the oven. Perfect for a relaxed lunch with family or friends. I love the alfresco setting, shaded by a beautiful tree and framed by a European-style gate—I can see why so many guests stop for photos. It feels like a quiet corner of the South of France.”
The Study at Four Seasons Hotel Macao

“A quiet treasure offering views of the Cotai Strip and its nightly transformation. It feels like the city is performing just for you. As a Forbes Hotel Star Bar, The Study bar offers exceptional craftsmanship, particularly during Negroni Week, when the art of the cocktail is celebrated. During blue hour, when twilight turns the sky a deep indigo, we honour the Port Tongs Ceremony, a wine-opening ritual. A vintage port is opened by flame—a centuries-old Portuguese ceremony carried across oceans to Macau. And for the seasonal fireworks countdowns, it offers one of the most captivating, crowd-free perspectives in the city.”
NBA Flagship
“It’s the first official NBA store in Macau and Hong Kong. There’s a customization corner, where you can add your name to a jersey.”
TeamLab at SuperNature Macao

“Not your typical museum. [This digital art experience] is more like stepping into a dream. I remember my first visit, wandering through those endless light installations and feeling completely transported.”
