- The Hotel is certified to Green Key International, a third-party certification program for hospitality properties.
- Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are available for guest use.
- EVs are available for guest transportation.
- The Hotel measures and tracks energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water use and waste generation through the Four Seasons global utility management system.
- Bicycles are available for guest use through external partners.
- Vegan and vegetarian menu items are available.
- Linens and towels are replaced every third day, unless otherwise requested.
- Guest room controls and building systems support optimizing energy consumption throughout the property, including a heat recovery system that extracts excess heat from refrigeration to support swimming pool heating.
- Building systems and fixtures support optimizing water consumption throughout the property.
- Irrigation systems and landscaping are designed to optimize water use, including through the use of drip irrigation.
- LED lighting is in place throughout the Hotel.
- Single-use plastics, including water bottles, bathroom amenities and takeaway food packaging, have been removed or replaced with non-plastic alternatives.
- A recycling program is in place.
- Organic waste is diverted from landfill, including coffee grounds.
- Damaged linens and towels are repurposed to reduce waste to landfill.
- Water bottle refilling stations are available throughout the Hotel.
- Seasonal menu items are available, including ingredients sourced from local suppliers at MICHELIN-starred restaurant CURA.
- The Hotel serves cage-free eggs.
- A food waste reduction program is in place, including AI-enabled tools to identify, monitor and reduce food waste.
- Surplus food is donated to the local community through DariAcordar Association.
- Guests can engage in educational tours at local natural, cultural, historic or heritage sites to learn more about the local community, including exploring a variety of UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as the Jeronimos Monastery and the Tower of Belem, or the Cultural Landscape of Sintra-Cascais.
- Artists and artisans are featured throughout the Hotel, including works from a significant collection of mid-20th-century Portuguese paintings, sculptures and tapestries.
- Linen, duvets, pillows, hangers and other items are donated to the local community through our affiliation with the HEART program of the Portuguese Hotels Association (AHP).
- Employees complete annual Human Trafficking Awareness training.
- The Hotel prioritizes sourcing from suppliers that meet our environmental and social procurement criteria.
- Suppliers are encouraged to reduce unnecessary packaging.
- The Hotel uses cleaning products formulated with ingredients derived from plant- and mineral-based sources.
- Spa products are primarily sourced from Portugal-based businesses, and are vegan and cruelty-free.
- The retail boutique in the Spa exclusively features handbags, jewellery and swimsuits from Portuguese brands.
