- The Resort is certified to EarthCheck Silver, a third-party certification program for hospitality properties.
- The Resort measures and tracks energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water use and waste generation through the Four Seasons global utility management system.
- Vegan and vegetarian menu items are available.
- Linens and towels are replaced every third day, unless otherwise requested.
- Guest room controls and building systems support optimizing energy consumption throughout the property.
- LED lighting is in place throughout the Resort.
- Building systems and fixtures support optimizing water consumption throughout the property.
- Irrigation systems and landscaping are designed to optimize water use, including the implementation of an on-site wastewater recycling system that provides water for landscaping.
- Single-use plastics, including water bottles, bathroom amenities and takeaway food packaging, have been removed or replaced with non-plastic alternatives.
- An on-site water filtration and bottling system reduces waste from water bottles.
- Since 2016, the Resort has collaborated with Parley for the Oceans to collect and recycle plastic waste, which is used in the production of sportswear and other products.
- A recycling program is in place.
- Organic waste is diverted from landfill, including through on-site composting.
- The Resort maintains an on-site garden that supplies herbs and produce for use in kitchen operations, including basil, mint, lemongrass, green chilli, tomato, bok choy, pandan, butterfly pea flower, water spinach, zucchini and scotch bonnet pepper.
- Seasonal menu items are available, including ingredients sourced from local suppliers, and approximately 90% of fish served is sourced from suppliers based in the Maldives.
- The Resort serves cage-free eggs.
- A food waste reduction program is in place, including AI-enabled tools to identify, monitor and reduce food waste.
- The Resort supports local biodiversity and conservation efforts through a longstanding collaboration with Reefscapers, which has facilitated the deployment of thousands of coral frames in the waters surrounding Kuda Huraa.
- The Resort operates government-licensed turtle hatchling pools in collaboration with the Local Island Outreach Education Project, providing temporary care for juvenile turtles.
- Collaboration with Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru on sea turtle rehabilitation initiatives, including support for the Flying Turtles project for non-releasable turtles.
- The Resort supports a local outreach program for neighbouring schools in collaboration with the Marine Discovery Centre, featuring educational activities related to marine ecosystems and conservation.
- The Resort hosts periodic beach clean ups that are open to employees.
- Guests can engage in educational tours at local, natural, cultural, historical or heritage sites to learn more about the local community.
- Local artists and artisans are featured throughout the Resort, including works by lacquerware artisans from Thulaadhoo, Maldivian women painters and Bodu Beru (big drum) performances.
- Employees complete annual Human Trafficking Awareness training.
- Over 1,000 young Maldivians have graduated from the government-accredited Four Seasons Resorts Maldives Hospitality Apprenticeship Program.
- The Resort prioritizes sourcing from suppliers that meet our environmental and social procurement criteria outlined in the Environment and Social Sustainability Policy.
- Suppliers are encouraged to reduce unnecessary packaging.
