At Four Seasons Resort and Residences Red Sea at Shura Island, we are committed to working with our local community and regenerating the environment. In partnership with Red Sea Global and through Four Seasons for Good, we are helping shape a new class of regenerative luxury travel where comfort and consciousness go hand-in-hand.

Entirely powered by renewable energy, Shura Island invites guests to take part in hands-on regenerative activities for all ages, both at our Resort and nearby. Discover how we are reducing waste, water and energy consumption while partnering with our local community.

Our initiatives

: Renowned sustainable architecture design firm Foster + Partners was selected to bring our vision to life through the design of our luxuriously chic Resort that stands as a leader in sustainable design. Highlights of this design include:
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certified
Use of locally sourced materials and low-emitting materials (low VOC content), with attention to life-cycle impact reduction
Optimized daylight usage to reduce electricity achieved through sustainable design
Integrated energy efficiency in building design, systems and operations, including optimized windows, shading and façades
: Exclusive electric vehicle (EV) use at the Resort and on the island, with charging stations available
Electric buggies available for guest transfers and used for all transportation within the Resort
Vegan and vegetarian menu items available
Linens and towels replaced every third day, unless otherwise requested
: The Resort is fully powered by renewable energy generated off site
Energy cost reduction and carbon offset of 40% against ASHRAE international energy standards
Water conservation measures in place, including smart water metering and rainwater capture and reuse
Wastewater is treated on site, with greywater reused for irrigation
Water-efficient landscaping design through the selection of native and adaptive plant species
: Single-use plastic-free water bottles, bathroom amenities, keycards, straws and food and beverage takeaway packaging
Recycling program in place
Organic-waste diversion program in place
: Menus with local, seasonal and sustainably sourced ingredients from farmers, fisheries and purveyors
Cage-free eggs
Responsibly sourced seafood available
Food-waste reduction program in place, including Winnow AI-enabled food-waste management solutions
: “Light touch” approach with a focus on having the least detrimental impact on the biodiversity of the island and sea, while encouraging existing flora and fauna to thrive
Periodic beach clean-ups open to guest involvement, helping to conserve the marine ecosystem and protect local wildlife
Sustainable gardening methods to reduce the need for irrigation and fertilizers in landscaping activities
Regenerative nature activities in which to participate, including mangrove restoration and coral planting
: Curated gifts and items in our shops are selected from local artists and producers
Employees complete annual Human Trafficking Awareness training
In line with our commitment to supporting the community, recruitment efforts focus on local talent
