FAMILY PROGRAMS

Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou offers a perfect base for families visiting the area, and extends an especially warm welcome to its young guests by providing special treats such as cookies and milk upon arrival. A wide selection of children’s DVDs is available, as well as colouring books and crayons in the Hotel's restaurants. Complimentary items include bottles and toiletries for infants, high chairs, child-size terry bathrobes, strollers and bottle warmers. Items to childproof guest rooms can also be provided. Babysitting services may be arranged through the Concierge.

Children’s menus are available in the restaurants and through In-Room Dining, with careful attention paid to providing nutritionally balanced meals. Guangzhou Opera House

Designed in grey and black by British female designer Zaha Hadid, this state-of-the-art post-modernist building features natural, rustic shapes and distinctive materials in sharp contrast to neighbouring buildings. The opera house covers 42,000 square metres (452,000 square feet) with a floor area of 46,000 square metres (495,140 square feet). It comprises a 1,800-seat theatre, a 400-seat multi-functional hall and a 4,000-square-metre (43,000-square-foot) front parlour and lounge.

The Guangdong Museum of Art consists of 12 indoor exhibition halls covering an area of 8,000 square metres (86,111 square feet), as well as a 5,000-square-metre (53,820-square-foot) outdoor sculpture garden. Guangxiao Temple (Guang Xiao Si)

Guangxiao Temple (Bright Filial Piety Temple) is among the grandest and most influential temples in China, with a history dating back more than 1,700 years. According to historical records, Guangxiao Temple is older than the city of Guangzhou itself. It was originally built during the Western Han Dynasty as a private home, but eventually it became a lecture hall before being dedicated as a Zen Buddhist Temple during the Southern Song Dynasty.

The first IMAX theatre in Guangzhou, this is also the largest IMAX theatre in Asia. The largest screen is 29 metres (66 feet) in a 10-storey building. Capable of seating 600 people, this 3D theatre was one of the first in China to use photographic film for 3D film projections.

WEATHER

With its subtropical climate, Guangzhou offers comfortably warm weather year round, with a yearly average temperature of 20°C to 22°C (68°F to 72°F). Spring brings increased precipitation, with most of the rainfall occurring in May and June, while summer is hot and humid. Autumn offers cool, comfortable weather that often lasts until November or December. While winter brings cooler temperatures, nothing more than a light sweater is usually required.
