On-Site Activities

Recreational Activities

The on-site recreational facilities at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire promise an inspiring choice of diversions, from rejuvenation in our full-service spa to an array of country manor house pursuits, including croquet, fishing and falconry. In addition to all the countryside sport, there are numerous walking and running paths as well as bike trails, for which we offer complimentary use of mountain bicycles.

Clay Pigeon Shooting

A very popular activity, clay pigeon shooting takes place in the Estate's South Field, just a short stroll from the Hotel, where clays are released from five different platforms. Our qualified instructors will guide you around the shooting circuit and offer expert tips and tricks. This activity is available to Hotel guests over 10 years of age, upon request. Lessons are available, and a maximum of 15 people can be accommodated at any one time. As shooting can be thirsty work, we can even organize a light bite and drinks served from the back of the Hotel's Land Rover.

Hours

Monday to Friday 10:00 am, 12:00 noon, 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm*
Saturday 10:00 am, 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm*
*Start time of last bookable shooting time

Croquet

Within the Hotel's original heritage-listed gardens, guests can play croquet from April to September, from sunrise to sunset. Mallets and balls are provided on a complimentary basis by our concierge team. For expert croquet tuition, we can arrange for a member of the lawn croquet society to join you. For gatherings of 20 guests or more, a Pimms reception or barbecue can be hosted in the Orchard adjacent to the croquet lawn, the perfect setting for a memorable event.

Hours

Tuesday to Sunday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Falconry

At Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, take part in a sport that has been popular with the English aristocracy for centuries: falconry. Under expert tuition, you will be taught the fundamentals of falconry and introduced to a selection of birds, including eagles, hawks, falcons, owls and vultures.

Hawk Walks and displays are educational, fun and exhilarating experiences that bring you close to these magnificent creatures through interaction and participation. The birds are flown to demonstrate their outstanding natural abilities. Observe their terrific power as the birds swoop past at speeds of up to 240 kilometres (150 miles) per hour.

Sessions are tailored to suit participants ages 12 and over, while those 12 and under can participate in group displays. Hawk Walks are also available for those 12 and over. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult (16 years and over).

Fishing

Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire has two lakes on the property's Estate, known as Tundry Ponds and the Belvedere Pond. From tranquil fishing for one to a group activity for up to 15 people over five platforms, we are delighted to offer trout and pike fishing on one of these 11th-century lakes.

Fishing is on a catch-and-release basis and is offered daily from 9:00 am to sundown throughout the year. With advance notice, fly fishing instruction can be organized for those looking to perfect their skills.

Running, Cycling and Walking

Set on 200 hectares (500 acres), the Estate offers countless running, cycling and walking trails for you to enjoy. Adult and children's bicycles are available at the Spa on a first come, first served basis.

To add that wow factor, our team can set up anything from an impromptu lunch to a surprise barbecue for you en route, at selected points along your trip. Or let us make up individual backpacks for you when you want to take a break from running, cycling or walking.

Looking for a guided tour? Local resident and successful author Rus Slater is delighted to offer wonderful accompanied walks on the byways and towpaths along the Estate. During your relaxing stroll of approximately 7 kilometres (4.3 miles), you will have the opportunity to learn about area history and take in the marvellous scenery.

For more information on fees or to book any of the activities, please contact the Hotel directly.
