Dining

Afternoon tea

  • AFTERNOON TEA

Since 1773 tea time has been a Boston tradition. On a cold December night, a small band of colonists threw 340 chests of tea into the Boston Harbour as a sign of protest against “taxation without representation.” It was the beginning of a chain reaction that eventually led to the Declaration of Independence. Today, afternoon tea is no longer a sign of protest – it is a civilized, refined respite from the taxing pace of the day’s activities.
