- The Resort is certified to Sustainable Seychelles, a third-party certification program for hospitality properties.
- A property-specific Sustainability Policy guides our efforts.
- Bicycles are available for guest use.
- The Resort measures and tracks energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water use and waste generation through the Four Seasons global utility management system.
- Vegan and vegetarian menu items are available.
- Linens and towels are replaced every third day, unless otherwise requested.
- A portion of the Resort’s energy comes from an on-island solar farm consisting of 7,236 solar panels spanning 12,140 square metres.
- Guest room controls and building systems support optimizing energy consumption throughout the property, including through the use of a combined heat recovery and solar water heating system and water heat pumps in all villas.
- LED lighting is in place throughout the Resort.
- Building systems and fixtures support optimizing water consumption throughout the property, including through the implementation of an on-site wastewater recycling system that supplies water for landscape irrigation and toilet flushing.
- Single-use plastics, including water bottles, bathroom amenities and takeaway food packaging, have been removed or replaced with non-plastic alternatives.
- Drinking water is produced through seawater desalination and provided to guests via on-site filtration and bottling facilities, replacing the use of up to 360,000 single-use plastic water bottles annually.
- A recycling program is in place.
- Organic waste is diverted from landfill.
- Seasonal menu items are available, including ingredients sourced from local suppliers such as fresh produce and eggs from the the island’s farm, operated by the Island Development Company (IDC).
- All honey served at breakfast and in pastries is harvested from the property's on-island apiary.
- The Resort serves cage-free eggs.
- A food waste reduction program is in place, including AI-enabled tools to identify, monitor and reduce food waste.
- The Resort supports local biodiversity and conservation efforts through an on-island apiary and the Desroches Island Conservation Society (ICS), which operates the on-resort Tortoise Sanctuary and offers guest activities such as tortoise feeding and tortoise adoption.
- The Resort hosts periodic beach clean ups that are open to guests and employees.
- Guests can participate in educational tours at local natural, cultural, historic and heritage sites to learn about the local community, including guided walks and cycling tours with the Island Conservationist that explore Desroches Island's native plant and animal species.
- Linen, furniture and equipment are donated to employees, with surplus items donated to the local community through the Seychelles Red Cross Society.
- Employees complete annual Human Trafficking Awareness training.
- Employees volunteer in the local community and support local charitable initiatives, including participation in the Run for Hope, which raises awareness and funds for cancer research.
