A Coral Island with a Story
Long before people arrived, Desroches took shape as a natural masterpiece – a coral island rising from a submerged volcanic crater and perfected over thousands of years. Layer by layer, coral built the soft white sands and tranquil lagoons that now frame some of the best beaches in the Seychelles. Beneath the waves, vibrant reefs teem with tropical fish and graceful rays, while above, time seems to stand still. As you wander the shores, every wave tells a quiet story of an island beautifully shaped by nature.

FAQ
Desroches Island is home to several beaches, each offering its own unique character. Madame Zabre and Aquarium are among the most popular, with sea turtles often spotted feeding on the sea-grass just offshore. For those willing to venture a little farther, Reef End and La Passe Thérèse reward a longer bike or buggy ride with pristine sands, secluded settings and a true sense of remoteness.
Desroches is a secluded island with a single resort, so its beaches stay quiet and uncrowded – many feel completely your own. Secluded shores such as Reef End and North Point are reached by bike or guided trip, and the Concierge can arrange a stretch of sand just for you for a meal or a quiet afternoon.
Be sure to ask the reception team for their daily Beach of the Day recommendation. Based on the tides and prevailing winds, they can advise which beach is likely to offer the calmest waters and best swimming conditions. With beaches facing different directions around the island, you’ll usually find a sheltered stretch of coastline to enjoy. Simply check in at the start of the day and head to the beach best suited to the conditions.
Depending on the season, sheltered beaches such as Aquarium Beach and Reef End often offer the calmest, clearest waters, making them ideal for a relaxed swim. Conditions shift with the tides and winds, so our team will point you to the most settled water on each day. Because the surrounding ocean can carry currents, it’s always worth checking in before swimming at the quieter, more exposed shores.
Most beaches are an easy bike or buggy ride from our Resort, with bicycles available throughout your stay. Quieter shores such as North Point are reached along winding tree-lined paths through the island’s greenery, and our team can show you the routes to the more secluded bays.
