Madame Zabre Beach Named after Madame Zabbe (later known as Zabre) – a freed slave who chose solitude here in the 19th century – this beach is a haven of calm. Bombay Beach This curved bay’s name is a journey through time: 19th-century workers first called it “bonne baie” (French for “good bay”) for its sheltered waters. Over decades, the name softened to “Bombé” (for its rounded shape) before evolving into “Bombay” – a playful nod to Desroches’ multicultural tapestry.
Pointe Hélène (North Point) As Desroches’ northernmost point, Pointe Hélène is steeped in Seychelles’ history: It’s named for “Hélène,” the ship that brought the archipelago’s first settlers. Today, it’s a gateway to nature’s wonders.
