- The Hotel is certified as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum by the US Green Building Council.
- The Hotel has been awarded 4 Keys from Green Key Global, a third-party certification program for hospitality properties.
- Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are available for guest use.
- EVs are available for guest transfers and used for all transportation within the Hotel.
- Bicycles are available for guest use.
- The Hotel measures and tracks energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water use and waste generation through the Four Seasons global utility management system.
- Vegan and vegetarian menu items are available.
- Linens and towels are replaced every third day, unless otherwise requested.
- Guest room controls, building systems and fixtures support optimizing energy and water consumption throughout the property, including through the use of a Building Automation System.
- Single-use plastics, including water bottles, bathroom amenities and takeaway food packaging, have been removed or replaced with non-plastic alternatives.
- A recycling program is in place.
- The Hotel partners with Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance (MANNA) to upcycle ice packs.
- Seasonal menu items are available, including ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
- The Hotel serves cage-free eggs.
- A food waste reduction program is in place, including AI-enabled tools to identify, monitor and reduce food waste.
- Surplus food is donated to the local community through non-profit partner Philabundance.
- The Hotel participates in Lights Out, a program that involves turning off and/or blocking as many external and internal building lights as possible at night when bird migration is occurring during the spring and fall.
- Oyster shells are recycled through a partnership with Delaware Bay Estuary, which collects them and places them back in Delaware Bay, providing habitats for baby oysters and other marine species.
- Guests can engage in educational tours at natural, cultural, historical or heritage sites to learn more about the local community through our Concierge, including exploring points of interest in one of the oldest cities in America on an electric bike, having lunch like a local at Reading Terminal Market, embarking on a private tour for a memorable outing on the Delaware River and immersing themselves in iconic American art at various local museums.
- Linen, furniture and equipment are donated to the local community through a local veterans' shelter.
- Local artists are featured throughout our Hotel, including live performances from musicians in SkyHigh.
- Employees complete annual Human Trafficking Awareness training.
- Employees volunteer in the local community and support charitable initiatives, including preparing meals for those in need through Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance (MANNA) and periodic clean-ups in local parks.
- The team at The Spa has successfully trained through the nonprofit Wellness for Cancer and can adapt and tailor services for individuals impacted by cancer.
- The Hotel can coordinate post-event donation of flowers through Forget Me Knot, an organization that repurposes flowers and delivers to community health care facilities.
- The retail boutique in The Spa features products from Pennsylvania-based creators.
