- The Resort was built using locally-sourced materials and embodies the 14 key principles of the biophilic design approach that connects people to their natural surroundings.
- Bicycles are available for guest.
- The Resort measures and tracks energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water use and waste generation through the Four Seasons global utility management system.
- Vegan and vegetarian menu items are available.
- Linens and towels are replaced every third day, unless otherwise requested.
- The Resort includes on-site solar generation infrastructure that supplies up to 80% of the Resort's electricity for operations.
- Guest room controls and building systems support optimizing energy consumption throughout the property.
- Indoor-outdoor tent space design incorporates natural ventilation and passive cooling.
- Building systems and fixtures support optimizing water consumption throughout the property, including through the capture of rainwater.
- Irrigation, landscaping and hardscaping are designed to optimize water use, reduce runoff and preserve natural stormwater systems.
- Greywater is used for irrigation.
- Single-use plastics, including water bottles, bathroom amenities and takeaway food packaging, have been removed or replaced with non-plastic alternatives.
- An on-site water filtration and bottling system reduces waste from water bottles.
- A recycling program is in place.
- Organic waste is diverted from landfill through on-site composting.
- The Resort maintains an on-site garden that supplies herbs and vegetables for use in kitchen operations.
- Seasonal menu items are available, including ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
- The Resort serves cage-free eggs.
- A food waste reduction program is in place.
- Resort tents, structures and pathways were designed around trees and animal habitats across 48 forested acres (19 hectares) to conserve biodiversity in the area.
- A local biologist advises the Resort on integrated pest management, to reduce impacts to the local ecosystem.
- Guests can engage in educational tours at local, natural, cultural, historical or heritage sites to learn more about the local community, including immersing in a personalized traditional Mexican Temazcal ceremony, embarking on a guided hike to learn more about nature in the area and visiting award-winning local artist Jose Juan Esparza at his private home and studio.
- Employees complete annual Human Trafficking Awareness training.
- The Resort prioritizes sourcing from suppliers that meet our environmental and social procurement criteria, including local and regional suppliers.
- The Resort integrated Mexican designers, artists and manufacturers throughout the design and construction process, supporting local businesses and creating spaces with an authentic connection to the local culture.
