Adamvs: A Biodynamic Journey from Howell Mountain to Bordeaux
Overview
Adamvs receives visitors only by advance appointment, and only from its own list. For Four Seasons guests, the Howell Mountain estate opens privately. The tasting crosses two continents at one table: wines from Adamvs poured alongside the family's Bordeaux properties, Château Fonplégade in Saint-Émilion and Château L'Enclos in Pomerol. Denise Adams and her late husband, Stephen, restored Fonplégade's 19th-century château and its Grand Cru Classé vineyards before finding this 80-acre volcanic site in 2008. The farming travelled with them: Adamvs has held Demeter biodynamic certification for more than sixteen years, and a guided walk through the vines and biodynamic gardens shows you the ground the wines come from. The name is Latin, "borne from our red earth," and on Howell Mountain the earth is exactly that, iron-rich and volcanic.
