Step into the world of traditional Japanese craftsmanship with this knife-making experience at a renowned Kyoto knife atelier. Behind the shop lies an authentic forge where generations of blacksmiths perfected the art of blade making. Guided by skilled artisans, hammer, shape and polish your own Japanese knife using traditional techniques passed down through the centuries. The master blacksmith will complete the finishing touches before shipping the knife to your home: a timeless keepsake handcrafted in Kyoto.

Things To Know

: Guests must be 12 years old or older to participate in this experience.
: This experience is not available on weekends or on public holidays.
This two-hour experience takes place at the artisan's workshop, located approximately 15 minutes from our Hotel.
Transportation is not included.
For the One Knife option, two guests create one knife, either taking turns working on it, or one person working and one observing.
For the Two Knives option, each guest creates their own knife.
Finished knives will be shipped directly to your home address. Please note that shipping fees are not included and will need to be paid directly at the store.
: Comfortable casual clothing (it's possibile that a few sparks may fly)
Long pants and long-sleeve top (recommended)
: English-speaking translator
Hands-on knife-making experience
Safety equipment, including protective apron, gloves and goggles
Either one or two handcrafted Japanese knives (value JPY 65,000–75,000), depending on selected package
