Booth Falls
Booth Falls Trail is one of the most popular hikes in the Eagles Nest Wilderness. The area offers incredible views of rivers and valleys, untouched aspen grove forests and the rocky peaks of the Gore Range. The trail can be very steep with a big elevation gain over the course of the hike, and is considered moderately difficult in the summer and autumn seasons.Booth Lake
The beautiful Booth Lake, tucked away in an alpine cirque with wildflowers, climbs through forest and meadows past Booth Falls, a 60-foot (18.29-metre) waterfall. With its popularity, the use has resulted in trail damage and widening. Please be sure to stay on the trail and carry all trash and dog waste out with you.Strawberry Lane
This hike begins close to the centre of Vail itself, so it’s a perfect short-day hike for anyone who doesn’t want to venture too far from civilization. The hike is mainly uphill as you make your way out to the turnaround point, so make sure you’re ready for a climb.Berry Picker Trail
This 7.9-mile (12.71-kilometre) out-and-back trail near the Eagle Bahn Gondola is generally considered a challenging route. This is a popular area for mountain biking and hiking, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. If you do this hike while the gondola is running, you can choose to skip either the uphill or downhill portions of the hike by taking the gondola. The hike is an enjoyable out and back as well. Take in incredible views on this trail, whether you choose to hike in one or both directions.Upper Piney River Falls Trail
The trail starts from the beginning of the entrance to Piney River Ranch and undulates gently for a few miles through open meadows with good spots for lunch, relaxation and views of wildlife and the greater gore range, extending through Eagles Nest Wilderness. The trail then climbs slightly through aspen groves and mixed conifer forest, crossing a number of small creeks before descending on a handful of switchbacks and reaching a cascading waterfall on the river.
