- The Resort has been awarded 4 Keys from Green Key Global, a third-party certification program for hospitality properties.
- The Resort is the Leeward Coast’s first "Blue Zones Project Approved worksite," recognizing efforts to create a work atmosphere that inspires, encourages and promotes well-being, including a weekly Farmer’s Market with nearby Kahumana Farms, employee yoga classes, healthy food options in the employee restaurant, a new mother’s area, easy access to fitness programs and self-monitoring health equipment.
- Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are available for guest use.
- The Resort measures and tracks energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water use and waste generation through the Four Seasons global utility management system.
- Vegan and vegetarian menu items are available.
- Linens and towels are replaced every third day, unless otherwise requested.
- The Resort includes on-site solar generation infrastructure that supplies electricity for operations.
- Guest room controls and building systems support optimizing energy consumption throughout the property, including through the use of automatic air conditioning shut off when lanai sliding doors are open.
- Irrigation systems and landscaping are designed to optimize water use, through the use of irrigation timers and drought-resistant plants.
- LED lighting is in place throughout the Resort.
- Building systems and fixtures support optimizing water consumption throughout the property, including in guest rooms and laundry operations.
- Single-use plastics, including water bottles, bathroom amenities and takeaway food packaging, have been replaced with non-plastic alternatives.
- An on-site water filtration and bottling system from Boomerang Water reduces waste from water bottles.
- A recycling program is in place.
- Organic waste is diverted from landfill and donated to local farmers for use as pig feed.
- Cooking oil is recycled into biofuel by a third-party provider.
- End of life linens and terry are upcycled into cleaning rags and drop cloths.
- Seasonal menu items are available, including ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
- The Resort serves cage-free eggs.
- A food waste reduction program is in place, including AI-enabled tools to identify, monitor and reduce food waste.
- Surplus food is donated to the local community.
- The Resort supports local biodiversity and conservation efforts, including through employee-led tree planting with Hawaiian Legacy Hardwoods.
- Integrated pest management has been implemented in landscaping practices, prioritizing biological controls over the use of chemicals, with no chemicals used near koi ponds or ocean.
- Complimentary reef-friendly sun care products are available for guests.
- Guests can engage in educational tours at local, natural, cultural, historical or heritage sites to learn more about the local community, including embarking on a spiritual journey to Ka’ena Point, immersing themselves in on-site, artisan-guided workshops, hiking to several spots throughout the island or visiting landmarks such as Pearl Harbor, Bishop Museum, ’Iolani Palace and the Honolulu Museum of Art.
- Local artists and artisans are featured throughout the Resort as part of the #FSWayfinders program, including Lauhala weavers, resin painters, hula performers and live musicians.
- Employees complete annual Human Trafficking Awareness training.
- Employees volunteer in the local community through community outreach, Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association (HLTA) Visitor Industry Charity Walk and Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii.
- The Resort partners with Ko Olina Resorts and Hawaii Food Bank to deliver over 1,000 dinners to families in need during Thanksgiving.
- Treatments at Naupaka Spa draw inspiration from a rich healing history at Ko Olina.
- The Malama ("to care for") program rewards guests who participate in selected volunteer programs during their stay with a USD 250 Resort credit.
- The Resort prioritizes sourcing from suppliers that meet our environmental and social procurement criteria.
- Suppliers are encouraged to reduce unnecessary packaging and deliver products in reusable containers.
- The Resort’s on-property boutique features local products.
