Avid travellers Nick and Christine Deaver dreamed of a destination wedding that reflected their fun-loving, easy-going personalities and took place against the beautiful backdrop of the Mexican Riviera. “We were sold when we found out that Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, México, offered two beaches for our big day,” says the bride. “How many people can say they got married on one beach and celebrated their reception on a different beach?”
The Scene: A blue colour palette complemented the Pacific Ocean, while pops of orange added flair to the seafront celebration. When guests arrived for the ceremony on Las Manzanillas Beach, they were greeted with fans (which doubled as programs), cool towels and water. After the ceremony, they sipped on Deaveritas—ginger margaritas, the couple’s specialty drink—as they walked to Las Cuevas Beach for the reception.
The Couple: Christine and Nick, both Texas natives, moved to Chicago when their companies merged and relocated, and were seated next to each other in the new office. “We quickly became running buddies and good friends,” Christine says. “Within six months of meeting, we ran two marathons, travelled to three continents and knew we’d spend the rest of our lives together.”
The Bride Wore: The ruched, strapless Romona Keveza gown was one that “I could dance in, I could comfortably sit and eat dinner in, and I felt beautiful wearing,” says Christine, who paired it with strappy gold L.K. Bennett wedges and select accessories: a pair of earrings worn by the bride’s mom at Christine’s sister’s wedding, and fresh orchids tucked into her classic up-do.
A Personal Touch: When Christine and Nick said “I do,” they were surrounded by those dearest to them: “My three sisters served as my bridesmaids and maid of honour, and Nick’s dad, brother and best friend were his groomsmen and best man,” Christine says. “Our niece and two nephews were the flower girl and ring bearers, and my brother-in-law served as our officiant.”
Magical Moment: For both Christine and Nick, the most memorable moment of the day occurred during the ceremony: for him, when he saw his bride walking down the aisle, and for her, when they were pronounced husband and wife.
