Simon Choi

Executive Chinese Chef, Shàng-Xí

Chef Choi fell for the culinary arts the old-fashioned way: “I loved to eat.” Growing up in Hong Kong, he impressed his parents with his cooking, and then followed the lead of a relative who introduced him to restaurants at a young age. His entire career has unfolded in restaurant kitchens, including more than a half-dozen positions as executive chef. He is now a standout talent amid the glitter and glamour of Shanghai’s core business district, changing Shàng-Xí’s menu seasonally and keeping tabs on customer predilections so he can dazzle them with something tailor-made upon their return.

“‘Tailor-made’ is the correct way to create dishes, because everyone is different.”

  • Dress Code

Kindly note that the dress code for Shàng-Xí is smart casual. Close-toed shoes, long pants and shirts with sleeves are recommended for men. In addition, we’re delighted to welcome families with children over the age of 3.
