At Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita, we support the natural ecosystems and biodiversity of Mauritius through hands-on conservation work, carried out in partnership with researchers and specialists and shared with the guests who participate.

Seahorse Project

Seahorse Snorkelling
Our seahorse monitoring program records data during every snorkel – whether with resort guests or for research purposes. Each sighting is logged for species, sex, evidence of pregnancy, habitat, depth and behaviour, and submitted to Project Seahorse. This ongoing record supports external research into population trends, breeding patterns, and habitat use in Mauritius and internationally.

Bee Conservation

Mangrove Honey
Our mangrove beekeeping initiative maintains hives among the mangrove islets, supporting pollination of native flora within this coastal ecosystem. The hives are managed by Pascal Laroulette, a local beekeeper, who monitors hive health and mangrove condition as part of the program. The result is a mangrove honey distinct to this island terroir.

Seagrass Conservation

Seagrass Nursery
In partnership with Odysseo Foundation, our seagrass nursery grows native seagrass to maturity before it is transplanted into the lagoon. The seagrass meadow is widely recognized as one of the ocean’s effective natural carbon sinks, providing habitat for marine life and supporting water quality. Our transplanting work includes survival tracking and lagoon establishment.

Ecosystem Awareness

Conservation Education
As a resort guest, you can take part in guided activities – including a seahorse snorkel, nature walk, night-time nature walk and guided mangrove kayaking tour – to learn firsthand about Mauritius ecosystems and the conservation work underway to protect them. These experiences are designed to build understanding of the island’s natural heritage through direct observation and guided explanation.
