For inspiration on planning an unforgettable family holiday in Mauritius, read our sample itinerary below.
Arrive in style to Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita with a helicopter transfer from the airport direct to the Resort's helipad. Greeted by your butler, you will be immediately whisked to your Royal Residence Villa for a seamless check-in, while the kids head straight for the pool.
Allow your butler to take care of your unpacking, while you refresh and take in the views of the surrounding Indian Ocean from your first floor sun terrace. For lunch, gather the family under the poolside pavilion and allow your chosen dishes to be brought directly to you for an al fresco feast.
Keen to explore the Resort, jump onto your complimentary bicycles and pedal down to Bambou Beach to visit the Boathouse, where you can choose from a number of complimentary watersport activities, such as kayaking, stand up paddle board and sailing - you can even challenge your family members in a race to your Royal Residence Villa and back across the crystal clear lagoon waters!
Celebrate your first evening together in the private dining room of our Italian restaurant, Acquapazza. The younger ones can join the chefs to prepare their own pizzas at the outdoor pizza oven, while the adults sit back with a glass of Prosecco, enjoying the chef's recommended plate of anti-pasti and signature dishes.
Hop on board a buggy for a short ride to breakfast at Beau Champ restaurant. From hot a la carte specialties, such as Mangrove Crab Benedict and Creole Omelette, to an array of cold cuts, cheeses, fresh juices, tempting pastries, a live waffle and pancake station and international specialties, there is something for everyone.
On return to your villa, prepare for a morning of marine discovery! Joined by the Resort's onsite Marine Educator from WiseOceans, kids can take part in a snorkelling initiation in the pool ahead of a marine life presentation and quiz. While the children are learning about the underwater world, adults can also keep active with a private, in-villa Acquaeorbics session with a personal instructor from the Fitness Centre.
Following lunch at the beachfront restaurant of Bambou, return to find your villa's garden transformed into a mini-Olympics arena! The team from the Hobbit Village Kids' Club and Karokan young adults' centre will have prepared a host of fun and engaging games and activities, culminating in a beachfront treasure hunt. Try out the traditional games of Mauritius during a 'zoué lontan' session, where you will learn the local ways of making a ‘cerf volant’ (kite), to play ‘la marelle’ (hopscotch) and how to create a ‘toupi' (Spinning Top).
After a busy day of activity, look forward to a relaxed evening in your villa, where the entertainment comes to you. A team of Four Seasons chefs prepare the local snacks of 'gato piment', 'samoussas' and 'gato brinzel' for you to graze on, before the evening comes alive through the colour of Sega - the traditional dance in Mauritius, where vibrant, flowing dresses swirl in circles to rhythmic drumming and melodic vocals.
As the dancing draws to an end, settle down in the comfort of your beach lounger, as the Karokan team present your chosen movie on a pop-up cinema screen and your butler keeps you refreshed with popcorn and homemade cookies.
Famed for its temples, colonial houses, botanical gardens, hiking trails and ample opportunities to encounter breathtaking, scenic views, Mauritius is without doubt an island for exploring. Set off on a full day excursion to discover the island with an itinerary to keep the whole family entertained.
Leaving the Resort straight after breakfast, head inland and onwards to the south east. This scenic drive allows several stops at picturesque waterfalls as you arrive in the Black River National Park to take in the spectacular views out through the mountain valleys to the southern coastline.
It is not just the eyes that will enjoy this outing, there will be plenty of fun and perplexity for the mind with a stop at Curious Corner in Chamarel. This captivating attraction is full of illusions and mind games that are demonstrated through interactive activities for all family members.
Arrive at Casela Nature & Leisure Park on the island's west coast for an afternoon of animal sightings and adrenaline, as you and your companions zipline across the treetops, race through sugar cane fields on quad bikes or travel alongside ostriches on a Segway!
Back at the Resort, immerse your tastebuds in an offering of pan-Asian dishes at Bambou restaurant. In the starlit, beachfront setting, choose from a la carte specialties from China, India or Mauritius as you and your family recount stories from the day's island adventure - don't forget to sample the local rum or fresh coconut mocktails.
For your final morning in Mauritius, opt for a poolside brunch in the privacy of your villa. With a menu customised to your preferences, enjoy every moment of soaking up the Mauritian sunshine or splashing around in the pool. For added entertainment, allow our Kids' Club to set up a karaoke station in your lounge for the children to test out their vocals, while your butler finalises all of your packing ahead of the 45 minute drive along the coast to the airport
