Extreme Water Sports
Flying through the air at heights of up to 40 ft., Maldivian kite-surfer, Hussain Zahid, is a familiar sight above Landaa’s lagoon – one of his favourite places to take to the skies. “The lagoon is clear, safe and extends for a good two kilometres without any obstructions,” explains Hussain, who has been kite surfing in various locations around the world for over a decade. He’s also responsible for water sports at Landaa Giraavaru – and as far as he’s concerned, the more extreme the better.
In addition to jet skis and seabobs, wakeboarding and kite surfing, Hussain has upped the ante this year with a host of exciting new additions.
Firstly, we’ve brought in a brand new parasailing winch boat, the state-of-the-art Cherokee 30 from Surfrider, England. Equipped with the latest parasailing technology – including a large landing platform at the rear of the boat for easy operation and safety – it allows guests to view the Resort and surrounding waters from an extraordinary height, while enjoying the thrill of a wing-free flying experience.
Then there’s the X-Jetpacks – the newest evolution in hydro flight technology. Featuring hardcore marine engineering and a snazzy, sport-centered design, strap one of these babies onto your back and you’ll soon be whizzing above the ocean like a Marvel comic book hero – flying up to 10 metres, completing Yaw turns, flying backwards and diving up to 5-metres underwater!
We’ve also splashed out on two sleek new water-ski boats from leading international brand, Crownline USA, equipped with the new line of outboard engines, the Mercury ProXS 175hp. The hull is designed to ensure maximum planing efficiency and stability for slalom water skiers as well for beginners.
Last but by no means least, our new range of fun tubes and inflatables include the all-new Grandstand 2, a one-of-a-kind towable for two riders that allows multiple riding positions including the ability to stand up like a water skier. See you at the beach!
