Like many visitors, professional golfer Rapha\u00ebl Jacquelin began coming to the charming French mountain village of Meg\u00e8ve for its skiing. A European Tour veteran with four championship titles, Jacquelin would find time between competitions to enjoy the slopes around towering Mont Blanc.<\/p>\r\n

On a summer trip, Jacquelin discovered a gem that\u2019s hidden in winter: the Mont d\u2019Arbois Golf Course<\/a>. Redesigned in 1964 by Sir Henry Cotton\u2014a three-time British Open champion\u2014it is one of the oldest courses in the Alps. At over 4,300 feet in elevation, the 18-hole layout offers spectacular views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding peaks, as well as lakes that make up what\u2019s known as the Alpine Riviera. But what distinguishes it from other mountain courses is that it\u2019s eminently playable.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cWhen you have golf in the mountains, it\u2019s sometimes too hilly,\u201d says Jacquelin. \u201cThe fairways are really flat here, which means the course is really pleasant to play for golfers at any level.\u201d A PGA-certified coach, Jacquelin now shares his expertise with guests through his Rapha\u00ebl Jacquelin Academy\u2014Golfzon Leadbetter, based at Mont d\u2019Arbois. His favourite hole: the demanding first, a narrow, tree-lined par 4 that rewards bold drives and punishes wayward ones.<\/p>\r\n

Professionals and amateurs alike descended on Mont d\u2019Arbois from September 3 to 5 for the ProAm at Four Seasons Resort Meg\u00e8ve tournament. Beyond the high-quality golf, visitors discover a town that doesn\u2019t shut down in summer\u2014filled with hiking, biking, water sports, and a lively restaurant scene, including at the resort\u2019s La Brasserie Benjamin, named a \u201cremarkable table\u201d by Gault&Millau in 2025. \u201cYou can do more things in summertime than in wintertime,\u201d says Jacquelin. \u201cPeople aren\u2019t here just to ski.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
