Globetrotting photographer Robb Gordon is often asked what kind of camera he owns. \u201cNobody asks a writer what kind of pen he uses,\u201d says Gordon. \u201cI don\u2019t really care about the camera. I care about the image.\u201d\u00a0Photographer Martin Morrell echoes Gordon\u2019s sentiment: \u201cOne doesn\u2019t need an expensive camera in order to capture moments that please\u2014[they] can be shot on a smartphone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Instagram\u2019s global network of more than 400 million users proves every day that anyone with a smartphone can capture and share beautiful photographs from around the world.<\/p>\n

To assist travellers during the Focus on Four Seasons Instagram contest<\/a>, we called in some of the most talented travel photographers in the business to share tips and techniques for taking the perfect photo.<\/p>\n

Take advantage of Mother Nature\u2019s lighting at sunrise and sunset<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Photographers live for what\u2019s known as the golden hour\u2014those short windows of time after sunrise or before sunset when the light gives anything you point your camera at a rich, golden glow.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhenever I can, I shoot during these times for the softest tones and most dramatic lighting,\u201d says Dana Neibert, who is known for his environmental and landscape photography like the shot of Lanai, pictured above. \u201cIt\u2019s so easy to make a nice image at those times.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
