Getaway Ideas – Shanghai
The main challenge of discovering Shanghai – and at Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai we agree it’s a very good challenge to have – is choosing which of the city’s delights to experience first. After all, Shanghai is an endlessly fascinating, endlessly energetic city that’s positively crammed with hip contemporary culture and rich history. Fortunately, our concierge team has its finger on the pulse of the city and can point you in just the right direction.
A “must-do” for many guests is a tour of the city from the unique vantage point of a vintage-style motorcycle sidecar. It’s a fantastic way to explore some of the best sights and also get a look at the winding narrow neighbourhood streets, local eateries and shops. Another expert tour is led by Wang Gang, an English-speaking photographer who guides you to buildings erected in the Shikumen style (a Shanghainese form of architecture) and helps you get a glimpse of authentic daily life. We can also arrange tours with English-speaking guides, whether you want to take a Huangpu River cruise at dusk to check out the turn-of-the-century European architecture and art deco designs of the Bund, or meander through Yu Yuan Garden, built in 1537 and criss-crossed with a maze of alleys, bridges, rock sculptures and tranquil pools. Nearby is the famous Hu Xin Ting Teahouse (the oldest in the city) and a market offering everything from jade and fans to silk and antiques.
At the Hotel, relax and unwind in sophisticated surroundings. Pamper yourself with blissful spa treatments or slip away for a romantic retreat in a room or suite on our “Couples-Only” 25th floor, complete with baths drawn by a dedicated bath butler.
Stylish Shanghai awaits! We’d love to share our city with you.
