Cultural Tours

Kyoto is one of Japan's best-preserved and historic cities, with intact palaces, gardens, 1,600 Buddhist temples and 400 Shinto shrines. Only Rome exceeds Kyoto in the number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with 17 from the golden age of Imperial Japan. Ask your conference services manager about planning a tour for your group to several local temples and shrines.

image

Maiko & Geiko Ozashiki Asobi Experience

For a memorable group activity, plan an Ozashiki Asobi experience with geiko (geishas) and maiko (apprentices), who are beautiful, professional Japanese entertainers. During this Tea House hospitality experience, guests can meet geikos and maikos, see them perform, and even play traditional group drinking games for entertainment. There are also several places around the Hotel that offer traditional Kaiseki dinners with geiko and maiko performances. Ask your conference services manager for more information.

Shop Kyoto

From unique flea markets to designer brands, Kyoto offers exciting shopping opportunities for your group. Arrange transportation to and from the city centre for an afternoon of shopping.

Sake Tastings

For a true taste of Kyoto, plan a sake brewery tour for your group. The Fushimi area, located approximately 15 minutes south of the city, is the heart of the Kyoto sake industry thanks to its pure, sweet spring water.

Hozu-gawa River Boat Ride

The Hozugawa River Boat Ride is a well-known sightseeing experience in Japan. The picturesque, historic trip includes the 16 kilometres (10 miles) from Kameoka to Arashiyama. It's an exciting team-building experience that allows guests to enjoy each season's scenery in Kyoto. Boats hold about 17 passengers each, and group discounts are available. Kyoto enjoys mild temperatures in the spring and autumn, and tourism is at its peak during these months. Temperatures are warm in the summer, with many events taking place along the city’s rivers. June is usually the city’s wettest month. In the winter, snow-capped trees and temples serve as beautiful backdrops.

Stage intricate business events or memorable social functions with unparalleled ease, supported at every stage by our seasoned conference services team. Our four main function spaces provide ample audiovisual equipment while also incorporating traditional Kyoto handicrafts into the décor. Click to view room details.

Chapel 1507 sq. ft. 140 m2 - - - 70 - - 120

Chapel

A dramatic staircase combines traditional craft and modern design in softly luminous, backlit washi-paper walls created by award-winning Kyoto artist Eriko Horiki. This experience serves as a gateway to celebration, leading to the beautiful Chapel set apart on the Hotel’s 4th floor. Here, the simplicity of contemporary design blends solemnity with elegance.

This one-of-a-kind, 140-square-metre (1,507-square-foot) space features an undulating, 5.4-metre-high (17.7-foot-high) ceiling inspired by a vision of bamboo gently swaying in the breeze. Vertical bands of wood shaped in relief create the subtle texture of bamboo leaves. Wooden bench pews are removable to suit any function.

A full-height altar window frames the sky and treetops in the garden. As the sun moves through the sky, the bamboo relief texture is reinforced by the changing play of light and shadow. Just beyond, a balcony is the perfect setting for photographs.
