Great Greens with Randoll Víquez
For Director of Golf Randoll Víquez, hole three at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica Golf Club at Peninsula Papagayo is one of the best places in the world. “It’s a hole that tempts me to play for the green with my driver,” he says. “The bunkers and elevation drop are a big challenge, plus it’s tough to concentrate with the spectacular ocean view on both sides of the tee!”
A Costa Rican native, Randoll learned the game as a 13-year-old caddy. Twenty-five years later, he has golfed in dozens of beautiful spots in the Americas, both recreationally and as a tournament organizer for a variety of organizations, including the Tour de Las Americas (the Brasil Classic, Mexico Open, Panama Open and Puerto Rico Open). Most recently, he was the general manager of the Costa Rica Golf Association. Now, as director of golf, he relishes the chance to introduce players to our award-winning par 72 course that showcases Costa Rica’s staggering natural beauty and rich diversity of plants and animals. And, as he points out, Costa Rica’s other top asset is its warm, outgoing population: “Our people are the best of Costa Rica and the best part of our Hotel and golf club,” he says.
Outside of work hours, Randoll enjoys spending time with his 12-year-old son as well as mountain biking, playing volleyball and soccer, cooking and learning about wine—and taking in a round or two of golf, of course.
