Family Summer Adventures
Summer in Chicago is a thrilling time for local and visiting families alike. As the city comes alive with excitement, families can discover an array of opportunities for fun. Visit great museums, restaurants and shops, and explore Chicago with our list of family-friendly activities.
Start the stay off with a new perspective – leaning over 1,000 feet above the Magnificent Mile at 360˚ Chicago’s Tilt!, right across the street from the Hotel.
Evening in the Park
Stop by Lincoln Park Zoo to see the Lions, Tiger, and Bears… OH MY! We recommend grabbing a family friendly bite at RJ Grunts, where you can satisfy your neurotic compensation of eating. Also in Lincoln Park is the flavourful French bistro Mon Ami Gabi, where parents can enjoy over 80 boutique French wines while the children can enjoy delicious little frites.
Morning Under the Sea
Take the Water Taxi from Navy Pier to the Shedd Aquarium for a behind the scenes experience or buy out the penguin experience for your family's one-on-one with the waistcoat cuties. Or, turn your family experience into a couples weekend -- drop the kids at the Shedd Aquarium with plenty of fun packed into the ‘Summer Road Trip’ experience or, for teens, let them enjoy an overnight experience.
Afternoon at the Beach
Grab a beach bag and radio flyer wagon from the Concierge team with fun-filled amenities and beach-themed surprises inside. Before you leave, don't forget to order sandwiches to go from Room Service for the kids after they get out of the water.
Evening in Gold Coast
Stick around the Gold Coast for a walk to Chicago Q, where you will enjoy a modern gourmet BBQ experience in a Savannah-style dining room. Start with the bacon cheddar hush puppies and indulge on their competition style ribs with house-made rubs. The Chef, Lee Ann Whippen, has over 14 years of competitive BBQ cooking experience and has won “Bobby Flay’s Throwdown” for best BBQ on the Food Network. Or, stroll around the block to Jelly Fish for dinner at one of the hottest sushi restaurants in the United States. This hidden oasis, overlooking Rush St., has fresh sushi for the parents and chicken teriyaki for the kids.
Gold Coast Morning
Keep it close for breakfast and try Tempo Café. The must-have Poor Man’s Skillet will make your stomach feel like a king. Or, consider The Pancake House off of Rush St. for a delicious way to start the day.
On the way out of town, stop by the Chicago Sports Museum in Water Tower Place (across the street from the Hotel) for a high-tech interactive sports experience for the entire family!
