Three Decades of "Yes"
At the nearby White House, administrations come and go. Fortunately for guests of Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC, there are no term limits for concierges. For over 30 years, Chief Concierge Javier Loureiro has been fielding thousands upon thousands of requests, with some more memorable than others.
One west coast guest wished to tour the District on his custom-made motorcycle that was garaged back home. Loureiro arranged to have it disassembled, shipped via Federal Express, and then put back together again. He also coordinated another guest’s relocation from DC to Kuwait.
Sometimes, guests turn to Loureiro long after their stay. One Middle Eastern client requested Loureiro’s help in arranging an extensive, around-the-world itinerary for his newly married brother. Month into the honeymoon, a problem arose during a stay in Hawaii. Rather than call the front desk there, the vacationing groom phoned his brother back in the Middle East, who then reached out to Loureiro for help. Suffice to say, the issue was rectified immediately.
Gracious and humble, Loureiro will be the first to admit he can’t promise the impossible, just the merely improbable. Looking in the direction of the White House, he notes: “I’m not saying I am going to be able to get you an audience with President Obama. But I’m not saying I can’t, either.”
