OFF-SITE ACTIVITIES

Within a 20-minute drive of the Hotel

Metropolis at Metrotown

Includes a Multiplex theatre and 450 retails stores, and is only 20 minutes from the Hotel via the skytrain.

Within a 30-minute drive of the Hotel

Chan Centre for the Performing Arts

Since its opening in the spring of 1997, the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts has earned an international reputation for its design and acoustics. Located on the University of British Columbia's campus, this cylindrical, multi-faceted facility has become a well-known landmark. It offers a variety of events, year round – from opera to jazz to world music.

A 50-minute Drive and boat ride

Bowen Island

Off the coast of Vancouver, there are many beautiful secluded islands. For a wonderful half-day trip, Bowen Island can be reached in a half-hour ferry trip. There are only three main roads on Bowen Island, all branching out from Snug Cove, so how you spend your day depends on whether you are travelling by car, bike or foot.

You can drive or bike to Killarney Lake, but the 75-minute trail around the lake is only for hikers. The boardwalk that crosses a marsh at one end is an excellent vantage point to view mink, grouse, ravens, eagles, herons, cormorants and deer. Fabulous sea-kayaking is also available at Bowen Island Sea Kayaking, where one can explore 37 kilometres (23 miles) of coastline and many nearby islands.

Mount Gardiner is Bowen's highest point and the view of surrounding islands and the Lions peaks are well worth the all-day hike. A number of local artists, such as Sam Black, open their studios to the public and this can make for a pleasant tour. See the Concierge for further details.

Within a 2 hour drive of the Hotel

Whistler, British Columbia

Home to Whistler and Blackcomb, consistently regarded as the best ski mountains in North America, and a summer paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, Whistler offers alpine scenery on a breathtaking scale. The ski and snowboard season lasts from November to mid-July. The mountains offer over 200 marked trails, with 12 magnificent bowls and each with a vertical drop exceeding 1,524 metres (5,000 feet).

Winter also brings snowshoeing, sleigh rides, skating, and glacier skiing. In warm weather, the natural landscape challenges with mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, rafting, mountaineering – and superb golf.

Whistler village radiates European charm and a decidedly Canadian savoir faire; it's a sophisticated, friendly destination whose pedestrian-only heart brims with international dining, and exceptional shopping, cultural and entertainment choices.

Travel from Vancouver is easy, whether by private limo or shuttle bus, via the scenic Sea to Sky Highway. During the Summer months, Whistler Mountaineer and Whistler Air are also available modes of transportation.

Within a 3 hour drive of the Hotel

Seattle, Washington

Nestled between the Cascade and Olympic mountains, on the shore of Puget Sound, Seattle capitalises on its unique position, offering urban sophistication in a stunning natural environment. This emerald gem bustles with eclectic neighbourhoods, a vibrant waterfront, extensive green space for walking or biking and an active cultural community. Birthplace to several well-known coffee establishments, Seattle is still a Mecca for coffee lovers, with hundreds of independent cafés dotted throughout the city. Pike Place Market, one of the oldest farmers’ markets in the country, hints at the culinary leanings of the city, which are echoed in a strong restaurant scene that showcases the bounty of the Pacific Northwest.

WEATHER

Vancouver has a temperate marine climate year-round. Vancouver's lushness can partially be explained by the fact that the city rarely receives snow. However, deep powder snow can be found during the winter months on the local mountains just 30 minutes from the city centre.

Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver offers flexible spaces that adapt perfectly to your conference goals, with technology that accommodates the most demanding presentation and communication requirements. Experienced Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver event planning and support is on site to promptly respond to every need. Click to view room details and floor plans.
