Yusui Suite ritual

Fire and water purification

This treatment dates back to a 12th-century Shugendo tradition in which Buddhist monks sought to achieve the perfect state of being by undergoing a series of purification rites. Two of these rituals, purification by fire (goma) and water (takishugyo), are meant to cleanse impurities and strengthen the body for future challenges. (3 hours)

Water ritual – The journey begins with a sage and cypress body wash, followed by an application of sake and salt polish, gently rinsed away in a warm Vichy rain shower. You are then escorted to your private steam room for further purification and detoxification.

Fire ritual – Under candlelight, be pampered with a pressure point body massage, followed by a five-grain body wrap, eyebright compress for the eyes and a basil hydrating gel.

We then invite you to lie back and relax in your private outdoor hot tub or the indoor hydro-bath, infused with rice sake tonic. Sencha tea is served.

Suite rituals

Red plum blossom mindfulness

Relax in a private outdoor bath and enjoy a plum and orange blossom foot wash. Then treat your body to an application of warm blossom oil and bamboo body polish, before being swathed in a plum blossom and chrysanthemum cream mask, followed by a steam shower and rinse of plum blossom and red wine. A re-awakening plum blossom aroma massage concludes the journey. (2 hours 30 minutes)

Sake and rice

Detoxify and regenerate. This therapeutic journey, inspired by ancient Japanese body rituals, begins with a relaxing soak in a private outdoor bath followed by a stimulating rice foot soak using crystal salt, rice and jasmine. Body cleansing and exfoliation follow, along with a final rinse of rice sake tonic to detoxify and regenerate. Then, a pressure point massage with dry rice oil soothes muscles and realigns energy flow. (2 hours)

Japanese-inspired rituals

Black sesame

A blend of black sesame, carrot seed, honey and tamarind is used to exfoliate the skin, followed by a fusion massage with essential oils of cajeput and coriander. Body and mind are rebalanced. (2 hours)

Green tea

Renowned for its healing properties, green tea is used in a polish to exfoliate. This is followed by a green tea body mask with essential oils of sage, cedar and juniper. While the skin is being nourished and revitalised, a scalp massage is performed. The treatment concludes with an application of sake lotion. (2 hours)

Ginger rhizome

This warming ritual begins with a ginger and papaya polish to smooth and replenish the skin. A ginger compress is applied to detoxify and further warm the skin, followed by an aroma massage using essential oils of ginger, bay leaf and ylang-ylang. (2 hours)

Wasabi

Revitalising body brushing stimulates and polishes the skin before an application of wasabi, along with extracts of liquorice, rice bran oil and guava, to stimulate circulation and help detoxify and smooth the skin. The experience is concluded with an energising massage using petitgrain-infused wasabi oil. (2 hours)
