General information

Sydney, with its friendly residents, agreeable climate, natural beauty and relaxed, outdoor-oriented lifestyle, is rated the best city in the world by readers of Conde Nast Traveler. It is a major hub within Southeast Asia and is the manufacturing, commercial, cultural and sporting centre of the region.

The first fleet of 11 ships, with a contingent of convicts and free settlers, arrived from England in 1788. The settlers came ashore at Sydney Cove, now known as Circular Quay, site of Four Seasons Hotel Sydney.

Successive waves of immigrants from many countries have had a defining influence on the culture and personality of this bustling, cosmopolitan city of four million people.
