According to ancient Chinese cosmology dating back to 6000 BC, the universe is divided into four quadrants corresponding to the seasons. These heavenly quadrants are called the four celestial palaces, and each palace is represented by a guardian animal: spring by the dragon, summer by the phoenix, autumn by the tiger and winter by the tortoise. Each treatment ritual is inspired by one of the four guardian animals. The green dragon spring rites are invigorating and renewing, the red phoenix summer rites are sensual and stimulating, the white tiger autumn rites are healing and therapeutic, and the black tortoise winter rites are revitalising.

Green dragon spring rites

The ritual begins with a relaxing tea blossom foot wash and a foot massage using warmed bamboo sticks. A cleansing and renewing body scrub of sumptuous dandelion and rhubarb smoothes the skin, followed by a refreshing peach blossom and tangerine body wrap to soothe the senses. The journey continues with an energising and soothing imperial dragon massage using lotus blossoms and gold-infused massage oil. The experience concludes with an application of tea and lotus blossom body lotion. The couple's treatment includes a tea, lotus blossom and dandelion bath.

Red phoenix summer rites

This warming ritual begins with a white sandalwood and magnolia scrub to enliven the senses and soften the skin. A wild orchid and peony empress hot compress follows to relieve tension before a sensorial massage using white sandalwood and magnolia body balm. The treatment concludes with a wild orchid and ruby-infused face and body mist. The couple's treatment includes a wild orchid and peony empress bath.

White tiger autumn rites

The ritual begins with qi-balancing meditation and breathing work that flows into a tui na massage, which works deeply into the muscles, promoting healing and rejuvenation. A cocooning white ginseng and rice wine herbal wrap using scented hot compresses follows the massage. The experience concludes with an application of hydrating rhubarb and angelica gel. The couple's treatment includes a ginseng leaf and angelica healing bath.

Black tortoise winter rites

The ritual begins with either a plum blossom and artemisia body reviver or a soothing neroli and winter mint body polish. The experience concludes with a longevity massage using plum wine and mandarin body balm.
