Less than an hour from Puerto Vallarta, The Resort is on the northern tip of Bahía de Banderas – one of the world’s largest natural bays. The shoreline of this 1,100-hectare (2,718-acre) community is fringed by over 14.5 kilometres (9 miles) of pristine white sand and rugged lava rock formations. Rising in the background are the jungle peaks of the Sierra Madre Mountains. Punta Mita is considered one of the area’s best spots for snorkelling. Seasonal highlightsSummer-FallThe summer and fall seasons provide Vallarta's best diving conditions. Excellent visibility combined with warm water and calm seas make for an enjoyable diving experience. A night dive under the moon's light in October is one of the most unique experiences in the area. Visibility: surface, 9–24 m (30–80 ft.); bottom, 9–24 m (30–80 ft.). Temperature: surface, 29–31ºC (84–87ºF); bottom, 27–28ºC (80–83ºF). December-MarchWhale watching is a popular activity from December to March. The mighty humpback whale makes its migration passing through the Banderas Bay. Its playful behaviour is an amazing display of grace, power and beauty. Visit the whales with ecologoists and biologists who are involved with the research and protection of these magnificent animals. |
