Artful Inspiration

There’s nothing like being surrounded by beauty to put you in touch with your creative side. And from its incredibly varied architectural styles and galleries to the Hotel's windows and chandeliers crafted by the city's world-famous glass artisans along with other museum-quality works, Prague is a destination that offers endless inspiration for artistic souls.

With exquisite state-owned and private art collections and acclaimed glasswork and Bohemian crystal, Prague has emerged as a world-class destination for visual art lovers. One could spend days strolling through the incredibly varied exhibits.

But for visitors seeking a more hands-on cultural experience, Four Seasons Hotel Prague has enlisted the creative eye and expertise of renowned local artist Lucie Crocro to teach a unique painting lesson for two. Called Women and Flowers, the course includes three hours of professional instruction and all the necessary painting equipment.

Set inside the lush tropical surroundings of the Prague Botanical Garden in a greenhouse that stays warm year-round, the private painting class is an exploration of the energy and shapes of both flowers and the female form. Budding artists have the opportunity to work with a live nude model as well as well as to study the vivid colours and shapes of their floral surroundings using a number of different media.

“First I want to give the participants a basic understanding of how to work with light, shadows and lines using charcoal, pencil, pastel and watercolours," says Lucie, who studied at the Royal College of Art in London and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.

The classes are both an interesting exercise in self-discovery for women as well as a unique activity for couples to do together, as they enjoy private access to the greenhouse before or after the garden’s public hours.

"The model will be posing in the garden, surrounded by flowers from different continents. I find this environment very interesting and inspirational,” Lucie says.

Lessons can also be focused exclusively on flower painting, and are booked through the Hotel Concierge.
