General information

Named by William Penn, an English Quaker and the founder of the city, Philadelphia is a Greek word meaning “City of Brotherly Love.” The city grew rapidly, becoming the second-largest English-speaking city in the world just before the American Revolution. Independence National Park in the Old City, near the Delaware River, is home to Independence Hall, where both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were adopted. Logan Circle, where Four Seasons is located, brings the style of Europe to the birthplace of America with a design inspired by Place de la Concorde in Paris. Nearby are some of the city’s historical landmarks and world-renowned Museum Row. With a population of some 5.8 million, Philadelphia is known for its diverse ethnic mix and warm hospitality.
