My Four Seasons

A Gilded Realm For Cycling

Before you lies the island’s largest, most swimmable beach, one naturally buffered by bluffs from the powerful swells of the ocean. However, we understand if you do not so much as dip one toe into our calm waters. Chances are, you’re soaking up the scenic delights of the island while cycling around it.

At the Resort, cycling enthusiasts and casual sightseers enjoy use of complimentary bicycles, helmets, locks, water bottles and maps, with sizes available for adults and children. While myriad trails are woven through the county of Palm Beach, the Resort’s location conveniently places you near the wide and frond-fringed Palm Beach Lake Trail. On this very popular route, you’ll find many of your fellow cyclists to be remarkably well-dressed and exceedingly polite.

The journey takes you to the northern tip of the narrow island, showcasing majestic ocean and intracoastal views, ornate buildings and magnificent estates along the way. Bicycle racks installed all over the island let you stop and explore its many delights.

Your first stop might be Worth Avenue, home to gurgling fountains and ivy-draped jewel-box boutiques. Stroll the tabby seashell sidewalks under antique-style streetlights and the swaying fronds of over 200 coconut palms. Should Worth Avenue be your last stop of the day, the Concierge can arrange extended shopping hours at the shops of your choice

For your next stop, consider the palatial Henry Morrison Flagler Museum. Also known as Whitehall Mansion, it is Florida’s first museum, and a stunning monument to Gilded Age culture. Follow this with a visit to the Society of the Four Arts. Dedicated to encouraging appreciation of art, music, drama and literature, this premier cultural venue also highlights a fifth art: horticulture. Meander through its delightful gardens, both botanical and sculptural.

Since use of your bicycle is complimentary, there is no rush to return to the Resort. Why not cross the bridge to explore all that Palm Beach has to offer, from tony Boca Raton to the celebrity-studded Jupiter. Or make your way back to the Resort and enjoy a refreshing dip in the ocean, followed by a cool cocktail or relaxing in-room massage.
