The role of Goddess of Wine has been vacant since the fall of the Roman Empire, when Roman goddess Meditrina last held the title. That changed the day Lacey Rozinsky became sommelier of L'Atelier.
Born into, as she admits, a not very wine-savvy family, and growing up among the non-existent vineyards of Brooklyn, Lacey seems an unlikely candidate. But as she explains, “Well, New York never sleeps, never stops eating and never stops drinking. How could I not fall for wine?”
Before joining Four Seasons Hotel New York, Lacey served as sommelier at some of New York’s finest restaurants, including Le Bernardin. Still, she considers herself a student of oenology, and is pursuing certification as a Master of Wine from the International Wine Center.
“In the end, it’s all about figuring out what wine means to them,” said Lacey. No oracle needed.
