Destination highlights
Whether you need to know local public holidays or highlights through the seasons, we hope you will find the facts gathered below useful tools for your travel planning. Please feel free to contact us if we can assist you further. General informationThe name Nevis is derived from the Spanish word “nieve,” which means snow. Christopher Columbus gave the name to the island when he discovered it in 1492, due to the clouds on top of the mountain that he could see as he approached. This unspoiled island offers visitors the opportunity to experience the Caribbean as it should be. The climate is consistently pleasant and there are no monolithic hotel complexes, congested beaches or frantic commercial centres. In fact, the government does not allow buildings taller than two storeys, so that they will not be higher than the canopy cover of the palm trees. Please note that all visitors to the Caribbean, including children three years and older, must possess a valid passport.
