Swimming and snorkelling

The waters off Wailea Beach are clear, safe and coral-free, making for excellent swimming and snorkelling. The water temperature is an average of 75°F (22°C) in winter and 85°F (28°C) in summer. The Resort offers complimentary snorkel gear to all guests for one hour per day.

Scuba diving

Complimentary introductory scuba diving lessons are available in the pool at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm daily. Maui Under Sea Adventures also offers the following daily activities, with applicable fees:

• Introductory reef dive
• Off-site dive at Makena Landing and Ulua Beach
• Rebreather and nitrox dives
• Scuba week certification – boat dive, scooter dive, night dive, wreck dive and unlimited beach dives
• PADI scuba certification – four ocean dives, with all equipment and materials included
• Night dive (for certified divers only)
• Underwater scooter

Outrigger canoe

The Four Seasons outrigger canoe programme will take you on a journey through the magnificent reef system surrounding Wailea Beach and the Resort. You'll have a chance to spot Hawaiian green sea turtles, various reef fish, manta rays and, during the season, Pacific humpback whales. You'll also learn the historical and cultural significance of the outrigger canoe, used by the first Hawaiians, who ventured to the islands from Tahiti.

This complimentary programme, offered four times daily, Monday through Friday, will introduce you to Hawaiian-style paddling techniques and terms. On the ocean, you'll get to practice your canoeing skills while enjoying the wala'au (talking story) provided by the guides, the Resort's championship paddling team. They'll share their thoughts about the neighbouring islands and the surrounding environment at two or three stops during the outing.
