George Murray, Concierge
other four seasons stories
While visiting a new city is exciting and exhilarating, with all the available guide books, maps, blogs, and restaurant guides in the marketplace, it’s easy to get overloaded with so much information. Often times it’s tips from locals about their favourite neighbourhood restaurant or tucked-away shop on the corner that makes a trip unforgettable–which is why an expert concierge is more important than ever.
Because Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane strives to make our guests’ visits outstanding, 10 concierges, six door staff and 11 guest service are available to see to travellers’ every need. From 24-hour multilingual services to setting up private tours and putting together a full day’s itinerary, our servies are second to none.
Overseeing the staff is George Murray, who has a 30-year long history as a concierge with Four Seasons. Charming and effervescent, he stays calm and unflappable in the face of hundreds of daily requests.
“The ideal concierge is naturally curious and observant,” Murray says. “When I walk around the city, I’m always noticing what’s new and what’s changed. You have to be genuinely interested in the world and eager to share what you know.”
You also need to be a good communicator, he says. “Guests are relying on you for advice, so you need to have an open, honest manner, and you have to be able to build relationships quickly.”
Like editors or curators, our staff can be relied on to know what’s going on all over London that reflects the kind of quality that will be appreciate by our guests.
