Balinese purification package
This sunset ceremony begins with the couple cleansing their hands, feet, faces and mouths. Next, a pemangku (priest) leads a prayer and meditation session. Colourful offerings of fresh fruit, flowers and incense aim to purify the mind and spirit. The pemangku then ties a benang sidatu (white string) around the wrists of the bride and groom as a reminder of the ceremony – to be worn until it falls off. The benang sidatu symbolises the personal quest for balance, harmony and understanding.
