Family
Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole’s wealth of year-round recreational activities gives families plenty of options for a memorable getaway. Just steps from the Resort, the Kids Ranch is located in the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s Cody House and offers age-specific activities for children from six months through 17 years. The entire region also provides fun excursions and special events for families to enjoy.
A Winter Playground
The central theme at Kids Ranch in the winter is skiing and snowboarding. It also features Fort Wyoming, a western sports playground, and Ske-cology, an interactive program combining ski and snowboard lessons with environmental education. The following supervised programs are offered in the winter:
- Wranglers (ages 6 months to 2 years): A nurturing staff entertains children with a variety of indoor activities and outdoor snow play. A licensed day care looks after those too young to enjoy the snow. Parents should provide diapers, formula, a range of clothes and any special foods. Lunch is provided.
- Rough Riders (ages 3 to 6): Specially trained instructors help children begin or improve their skiing abilities. Children’s equipment rentals are available.
- Little Rippers (Ages 5 to 6): Semi-private half-day snowboarding lessons include lift ticket and rental equipment. A maximum of three children per class allows the instructor to provide the one-on-one training necessary.
- Explorers (Ages 7 to 14): Children learn how to improve their skiing and snowboarding while scouting for moose, porcupine, eagles and other wildlife in Jackson Hole.
- Team Extreme (ages 12 to 17): Advanced teen skiers and riders tour back country and learn mountain orientation, versatility, steeps and route findings. Held during select winter periods.
- Private Lessons: For a complete one-on-one experience or for guests who wish to form their own group (up to five people), an instructor can tailor the session to the specific needs and experience levels of skiers and snowboarders. Sessions range from three to seven hours.
- Other Kids Entertainment: Special programs are offered during the snow season, including Kids Night Out, New Year’s Eve Glow Worm Parade, Spring Egg Hunt, NSAA National Safety Awareness, Snow Monsters and Ske-cology.
During the winter, many families enjoy sleigh rides at the National Elk Refuge and ice-skating. The Resort’s Concierge can help families decide which activities appeal to their interests and make all arrangements.
Warm Weather Mountain Adventures
Summer activities at the Kids Ranch focus on the mountain with lessons on orienteering, astronomy, hiking and nature mixed in with playtime. The Resort’s Ski Concierge operation also is transformed into a Base Camp where all necessary equipment and arrangements can be made for the wealth of warm-weather activities for the entire family. Choices include tours of the national parks, hiking, mountain biking, river excursions and wildlife viewing, as well as rodeos and special events.
Fun Any Time of the Year
Children under 18 years of age have their own Kid’s Club in the Resort. This special place serves as an entertainment centre equipped with a pool table, foos ball table, TV and several game stations.
Families also find the town of Jackson entertaining for great shopping with toy stores and Western arts, crafts and souvenirs. Many restaurants are ideal for family dining and cater to children. Year-round county fairs, art festivals and special events round out the experience.
Other Services for Parents
The Resort can also provide nanny services for children staying at the Resort. Any special requests for amenities for children, whether it’s no-tear shampoo or cribs, can easily be provided. Children’s menus are offered at all Resort restaurants and by room service.
